Local wrestlers compete, place in Dells tournament

Several local wrestlers who are part of the Neillsville-Greenwood-Loyal program competed in Dominate in the Dells, a USA Wrestling Folkstyle Tour of America event in Wisconsin Dells, on March 9 and 10.

Kase Erickson wrestled in the 8U beginner division at 47-49 pounds, finishing first. He beat Owen Hansen of Waunakee by pin (0:42), then won against Jaxon Byrd of Illinois 12-5 and finally won against Rhyan Munson 14-5.

David Kautzer competed in the 14U beginner division, taking second place.

Kyler Wynn competed in the 10U division at 63 pounds, taking fourth place. He received a bye in the first round, won against Taylor Alfson 12-0, won against Miles Maes of X-Factor Elite (pin 1:44), lost to Nickson Petri of Ringers Wrestling Club of Menomonee Falls (4-2), won against Deacon Glassmaker of Princeton 15-0 and lost in the third-place match to Landon Peterson, 6-2.

Rydge Tibbett compted in 16U at 120 pounds. He took sixth place. He won against Cillian O’Connell of Crass Trained 6-2, followed by a win against Hayden Altman of Iowa (pin 4:33) and a win against Ethan Phanmanivong of Minnesota 8-6. He lost to Parker Neu of Askren Wrestling Academy in Madison, lost to Landon Obermueller (pin 2:21) and lost the fifth-place round to Landon Phanmanivong, 14-9.

Adam Kautzer competed in the 16U division at 132 pounds.

Hudzon Sebesta-Opelt competed in the juniors division at 157 pounds, taking fifth place. He won over Brice Burton (pin 0:19), won against Silas Oberholtzer of Illinois 10-2, won against Zachary Davidson of Northwestern 11-2, lost to Tyson Imhoff of Sarbacker Wrestling Academy of Dodgeville (7-2), lost to Kade Boyd of Askren (pin 1:32) and won against Zachary Davidson 11-2.

Gavyn McFarlane competed in the juniors division at 165 pounds.

Jackson Meyer competed in the juniors division at 285 pounds, taking fifth place. He had a bye round, then won against Deacon Ward of Myrmidon wrestling club of Holland, Mich. (pin 3:51), lost to Cadence Zwiefel of La Crosse (pin 1:55), lost to Nathaniel Langdon (6-2) and won the fifthplace match against Nehemiah Lendobeja of Team Nazar MFF.
