MEDFORD ARCHERY SHOOT

Brock Anderson of Medford was a 3-D champion, while several other archers from Medford and Gilman were high finishers during the Medford Archery Club’s annual National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) events Friday and Saturday at Medford Area Middle School.

Anderson, an eighth grader, won the middle school boys (grades 6-8) overall title with a score of 278 out of a possible 300 with his 30 scoring shots in the 3-D shoot. He topped a field of 81 in the division, including teammate Eric Paul, another eighth grader, who took third with a score of 275, and Gilman’s Colton Lang, who was fourth at 274. Pirate Cade Kowalcyzk was eighth at 271.

Anderson and Paul helped lead Medford to a second-place team finish in the middle school division. The Raiders scored 1,561 points to finish 22 behind champion Stratford. Gilman ranked sixth with 1,504 points.

In the high school 3-D team standings, Medford was third with 1,625 points, trailing Stratford (1,696) and Marshfield (1,632), while Gilman was fifth with 1,571 points, nine points behind Cornell.

Also in 3-D results, Medford junior Mattie Gebert was third out of 54 high school girls with her score of 282, four points behind champion Faith Kubista of Cornell. Gilman junior Alison Krizan was fifth at 281 and Medford senior Jenna Wickersheim was eight with her 275. Gilman’s Dalton Wisocky and Medford’s Ezra Hillebrand were 10th and 11th on the boys side with scores of 274 and 273. Marshfield’s Dylann Brogan won at 291.

Medford’s Allison Metz was third out of 21 girls in the elementary division (grades 4-5) with a score of 229, Gilman’s Addison Lang was fourth at 216 and Emma Partridge was sixth at 202 and Medford’s Chloe Krueger was seventh at 201.

The 3-D shoot drew 268 total entries, 150 boys and 118 girls. Add that to the 261 boys entires and 219 girls entries in the bullseye shoot and there were 748 total entries for the weekend tournament.

Medford earned a pair of fourth-place team finishes in the bullseye shoot. Stratford was first out of six scoring teams in high school competition with 3,367 points, beating Cadott (3,359), Marshfield (3,271), Medford (3,233), Faith Christian Academy (3,108) and Elk Mound (3,099). Stratford also took the middle school title with 3,268 points, beating Thorp (3,099), Auburndale (3,078) and Medford (3,062). Gilman placed eighth with 2,774 points.

Wisocky was the highest local scorer, placing third among high school boys with a 290 out of a possible 300. Brogan completed his individual title sweep with a 292. Wickersheim was actually part of a four-way tie for first among high school girls at 285, but she came out on the short end of the 10-point shot tiebreaker and wound up in fourth place. Gebert was one point off the pace at 284 but was third in a tiebreaker and was credited with seventh place out of 90 high school girls.

Medford eighth grader Jake Erl placed third out of 119 middle school boys with his score of 284, Anderson was fourth at 281 and Dylan Emmerich took sixth at 278. Gilman’s Lang was 11th at 277. Partridge was third among elementary girls with a score of 244 and Gilman’s Dylan Herring placed fourth among elementary boys with a 241.
