RAINBOW SPECTACULAR - Rainbow gymnasts earn three team, eight all-around wins in home meet

A busy Saturday of competition also was a successful one for Medford’s Rainbow Gymnastics Club, which captured three team championships and eight individual all-around championships during its annual Rainbow Spectacular meet held at Medford Area Elementary School.
The meet featured 188 gymnasts of all ages from 10 clubs, including Hub City of Marshfield, the Phoenix Club of Bloomer, Bay Area of Ashland, the Antigo Twisters, YMCA of the Northwoods, Deutsch’s Gymnastics of Rice Lake, Tumble Tyme of Beaver Dam, Hard Core of Mazomanie and Iron County. Rainbow Gymnastics had 32 entrants in Saturday’s meet.
Rainbow’s team championships were achieved at Level 2, Level 4 and Level 8.
Rainbow’s group of 12 Level 2 gymnasts was credited with a team score of 109.9, which was just enough to outscore Hub City (109.125). Six of those gymnasts were among the seven entered in Group C.
Grace Ziembo was first all-around with 36.7 total points. She won the uneven bars at 9.5, tied teammate Zarianna De La Cruz for first on the balance beam with a 9.2, took second on the floor exercise at 8.85 and tied De La Cruz for second on the vault at 9.15. De La Cruz was second allaround with 36.4 total points. She won the floor with an 8.95 and took second on the bars at 9.1.
Annabel Bacholl’s third-place total of 35.85 included a win on vault at 9.3, a tie for third at 9.0, a fourth-place finish on floor at 8.7 and a fifth-place beam score of 8.85. Charli Decker’s fifth-place total of 34.85 included third-place scores of 9.05 on beam and 8.8 on floor as well as a 9.0 on vault and an 8.0 on bars.
Maple Schultz-Becker was sixth at 34.75 all-around points, including 9.0s on bars and vault, an 8.75 on beam and an 8.0 on floor. Camren Frahmann’s total of 34.15 included an 8.95 on vault, an 8.6 on bars, an 8.55 on beam and an 8.05 on floor.
Veda Ellebecker had the top all-around score of 35.35 in Group B. She tied for second on bars at 8.8, took third on beam (8.85) and floor (8.7) and tied for fourth on vault at 9.0. Cecelia Miicke was third with 35 total points and won the floor with an 8.8, while taking second on the beam at 8.9. She got a 9.0 on vault and an 8.3 on bars. Madison Baird was next all-around at 34.85, including a winning score of 9.1 on beam. She added an 8.9 on vault, and 8.45 on floor and an 8.4 on bars.
In Group D, Claire Belter ranked second overall with 35.9 points, just 0.075 behind Hub City’s Dahlia Ver Kilen. Belter was second on bars at 9.1, tied for second on beam at 9.15 and added a 9.0 on vault and an 8.65 on floor. Leona Botsford and Amiyah Burrier tied for third overall at 35.85. Botsford won the beam (9.35) and floor (9.0) and got a 9.0 on vault and 8.5 on bars. Burrier won the vault (9.2) and added scores of 9.05 on bars, 8.9 on beam and 8.7 on floor.
Rainbow’s Level 4 team score of 107.15 beat Deutsche’s (106.9) and Tumble Tyme (103.55). Adalynn Foster (36.4) and Kree Doriot (35.05) were the top two all-around gymnasts in Group B. Foster won the floor (9.25), bars (9.05) and beam (9.0) while taking second on vault (9.1). Doriot won the vault with her 9.25, took third on bars (8.5), fourth on floor (8.8) and fifth on beam (8.5). Aurelia Brushaber’s all-around total of 35.7 took second in Group A. She was tied for first on floor (9.2) and was second on vault (9.2), fourth on beam (9.0) and fifth on bars (8.3).
Rainbow’s three Level 8 gymnasts combined for a winning team score of 101.75. Shayla Radlinger was the allaround champion at 34.2, just ahead of teammates Raylin Rothmeier (34.1) and Delaina Meyer (33.45). Radlinger won the floor at 8.9, followed by Rothmeier (8.8) and Meyer (8.7). Rothmeier and Meyer tied for the vault title with 8.8s, while Rothmeier’s 8.7 won the beam. Radlinger was second at 8.05 and Meyer was fourth at 7.2. Radlinger was third on vault at 8.6. Meyer on the bars at 8.75, followed by Radlinger (8.65) and Rothmeier (7.8).
A group of seven Level 3 gymnasts earned a team score of 109.15 to place second out of five clubs. Deutsch’s Gymnastics won at 110.05.
Miranda Potocnik was the top allaround gymnast in Group B at 35.45. She won the beam (8.9), bars (8.85) and tied for first on floor (8.55). She was second on vault at 9.15. Avery Lange won the vault at 9.3 while placing third all-around at 33.95. She tied Potocnik for first on the floor, was second on beam at 8.7 and was fifth on bars at 7.4. Myla Mallak was fourth allaround (33.05) with scores of 8.8 on vault, 8.5 on floor, 8.2 on bars and 7.55 on beam.
Lena Schug (37.1) and Tinley Hamm (36.05) were first and second overall in Group D. Schug had a big night, winning the beam (9.5), floor (9.35) and bars (9.05). She was fourth on vault at 9.2. Hamm got 9.3s to take second on vault and floor, tied for second on beam at 8.95 and was third on bars at 8.5. Amelia Ranum was third in Group G with a 9.1 on vault, an 8.85 on floor, an 8.6 on bars and an 8.5 on beam totaling 35.05 points. Kimberley Blair was fourth in Group F with a 9.2 on vault, an 8.65 on beam, an 8.6 on floor and an 8.0 on bars totaling 34.45 points.
Rainbow’s Level 6 team scored 101.85 points to take third behind Hub City (108.35) and Phoenix (105.05). All three team members competed in Group B. Brooke Buechel won with 35.3 all-around points. She won the bars (9.05) and beam (8.65), took second on vault (9.3) and added a fourth on floor (8.3). Jordyn Grant was next at 34.45. She won the vault at 9.35, took second on bars at 8.6, placed third on floor at 8.45 and was fourth on beam at 8.05. Rylee Hartwig’s fourth-place total of 32.1 included a winning score of 8.85 on floor, a 9.15 on vault, an 8.1 on beam and a 6.0 on bars.
Kyla Krause outscored Alyvia Dietsche of Hub City 35.45-32.6 to win the Open Optional competition. Krause had the top scores in each event, 9.25 on floor, 9.1 on vault, 8.8 on bars and 8.3 on beam.
In Level 5, Ruby Holtman (34.85) and Mackinley Mueller (33.15) were third in Groups A and B, respectively. Holtman was second on floor at 9.2 and added an 8.8 on vault, an 8.55 on bars and an 8.3 on beam. Mueller was second on vault at 9.1 and added an 8.2 on bars, a 7.95 on floor and a 7.9 on beam.
Lillian Nemitz-Coleman was fourth in Group B of Xcel Gold competition with 34.25 all-around points. She was third on vault (9.05) and beam (8.85) and added an 8.35 on floor and an 8.0 on bars.
Next on the club’s schedule is this weekend’s meet hosted by the Phoenix Club. The Badger State Games in Marshfield follow April 5-7.
