RAINBOW GYMNASTICS - Rainbow gymnasts spring into some high scores at Sweet Tart Invitational

Medford’s Rainbow Gymnastics Club placed third in Level 3 team standings, fifth in Level 2 and had several strong individual efforts at the 2024 Sweet Tart Invitational hosted Feb. 10-11 by the Carousel Gymnastics Club of Plover.

Individually, Brooke Buechel ranked third out of 10 entrants in Level 6 as she compiled 34.65 all-around points. She took third on the uneven bars with an 8.4, tied for third on the vault with an 8.75, was fifth on the balance beam at 8.5 and tied for sixth in the floor exercise with a 9.0.

Lilliann Nemitz-Coleman placed 12th among gymnasts 12 and under at the Xcel Gold level. She totaled 30.65 allaround points with an 8.0 on the floor, a 7.95 on the beam, a 7.8 on vault and a 6.9 on the bars.

The Level 3s earned a team score of 107.05 to beat teams from Tumble Tyme (106.2), Gymlingo (105.9) and Superior (101.75). Carousel’s team outscored Hub City of Marshfield 112.55-110.95 to win the team trophy.

Rainbow’s Lena Schug finished fourth out of 10 girls in the 10-year-old division with her all-around score of 35.15. That included a second-place 9.3 on beam, a thirdplace 9.1 on vault, a sixth-place 8.2 on bars and a seventhplace 8.55 on floor.

Miranda Potocnik and Tinley Hamm were fifth and sixth out of 14 9-year-old Level 3 gymnasts with their allaround scores of 35.7 and 35.45. Hamm won the vault competition with a 9.55. Potocnik was third on the beam at 9.25 and fourth on the floor at 9.05. She added a 9.05 on vault and an 8.35 on bars. Hamm got an 8.9 on beam, an 8.6 on floor and an 8.4 on bars.

Kimberley Blair and Amelia Ranum placed seventh and eighth in Level 3 competition for girls 11 and up. Blair got an all-around score of 33.85, while Ranum finished at 33.2.

Blair got into the top five on vault with a 9.25, added 8.4s on floor and beam and got a 7.8 on bars. Ranum tied for fourth on the floor with a 9.1 and added an 8.9 on vault, a 7.8 on bars and a 7.4 on beam.

The Level 2 team posted a team score of 106.3, good enough to outscore the Northwoods team (104.7) for fifth place. KROC of Green Bay won the team title with 112.95 points, followed by Carousel (109.8), Gymlingo (107.8) and Hub City (106.75).

Rainbow had three gymnasts in Level 2’s 10 and up division. Amiyah Burrier tied for fourth out of 10 entrants with 35.65 all-around points. Zarianna De La Cruz was sixth with 35.45 and Claire Belter was ninth with 34.5.

De La Cruz won the vault with a sparkling score of 9.6. She also tied for third on bars with a 9.2. She earned an 8.45 on beam and an 8.2 on floor. Burrier got a 9.3 on bars to take second, 0.05 points behind event and overall winner Cassidy Corrigan of Carousel. Burrier was sixth on the vault at 9.4 and got an 8.5 on beam and an 8.45 on floor. Belter was fourth on the floor with an 8.6, got a 9.25 on vault and added an 8.95 on bars and a 7.7 on beam.

Cecilia Miicke was sixth out of 11 9-year-old gymnasts. Her all-around score of 34.4 included top-five scores of 8.8 on bars and 8.4 on beam as well as a 9.2 on vault and an 8.0 on floor.
