NGL wrestlers pick up 2 wins at home, including close one vs. Cadott
The Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal (NGL) wrestling team participated in a conference triangular at home in Neillsville last week.
Versus Cadott The NGL squad narrowly edged Cadott, 40-37, in a dual where every match counted. Both teams had seven winners. Earning points for NGL were the following: Dane Luchterhand (190 pounds) pinned Payton Presswood in 0:54 to earn 6 points for his team. Chase Lindner (106) defeated Iszy Sonnentag by major decision, 13-5, to earn 4 points. Rydge Tibbett (113) won by forfeit to receive 6 points. Adam Kautzer (132) pinned Monte Lodahl after 5:03 of wrestling to earn 6 points. Hudzon Sebesta-Opelt (150) made quick work of his opponent, pinning Brenton Faber in 34 seconds for 6 points. Gavyn McFarlane (157) and Jakob Luchterhand (165) also earned 6 points apiece, winning by forfeit.
Taking a loss for NGL were Damian Sampson (215) who fell to Mitchell Reineke in 5:08; Jackson Meyer (285), who lost by 4-1 decision to Axel Tegels; Josh Reis (126), who fell to Kaleb Lodahl in 1:45; Jerome Buchanan (138), who fell to Owen Fasbender in 3:23; and Evan Kautzer (144), who lost by 9-0 major decision to Jon Phelps. Cadott’s Evan Lallemont (120) and Caden Kingston (175) also won by forfeit. Each of those matches were worth 6 points, with the exceptions of Meyer’s match, which was worth 3; and Evan Kautzer’s match, which was worth 4. Versus OAF In contrast to their dual with Cadott, the NGL team had little difficulty achieving the victory versus Osseo-Fairchild/Augusta/Fall Creek (OAF), sweeping their opponent 71-0, with the help of several forfeits by Cadott.
Meyer pinned Gryphon Brown in 2:51. Lindner pinned Aaliyah Zamora in 2:29. Reis pinned Abby Moss in 19 seconds. Adam Kautzer pinned Reeve Bucholz in 1:08. Sebesta-Opelt won by technical fall 16-0 (2:48) over Mason Antczak. Sampson pinned Noah Krueger in 29 seconds. Each of the previous wrestlers earned 6 points, except Sebesta-Opelt, who earned 5.
NGL wrestlers winning by forfeit were Tibbett, Buchanan, Evan Kautzer, McFarlane, Jakob Luchterhand and Dane Luchterhand. Each of these wrestlers gained 6 points for the team.
