Duellman comes back with the crown from Ladysmith

As each week progresses, the Cornell-Lake Holcombe-Gilman wrestlers are seeing more success on the mats.

Jan. 11 vs. Luck-Frederic-Grant-Siren (L 60-22)

The Wolfpack acted as host to the Luck-Frederic-Grant-Siren squad, in what turned out at the end to be a match of forfeits. With more numbers on their side, the visitors walked away from the quad with a 60-22 victory.

Winning for the Wolfpack, was senior Troy Duellman (157 pounds), over Levi King, by fall, in 1:59, as well as junior Preston Fredrickson (144), getting the win over Joe Wiltrout, in an 11-5 major decision.

Also winning, was freshman Kadyn Jones, who came up with a win over Joe D’Jock, in a 4:52 fall, and freshman Taydyn Angell (215), who got the win over Gavin Roscoe, in a 5:32 fall.

Jan. 11 vs. Unity (L 57-12)

Next up on the night, was Unity, who again had greater numbers to their credit, handing the Wolfpack a 57-12 loss.

Duellman again claimed victory, with a win over Haze Larson, in a 3:49 fall. Angell also won, in his match against Caleb Johnson, by fall, in 1:10.

Jan. 13 Ladysmith Invitational

The Wolfpack was then off to Ladysmith, over the weekend, for a tournament, where Duellman came home with the championship crown.

He first got a win in the quarterfinals, over DMarqos Youngthunder, of Black River Falls, in a 1:25 fall, followed by a win in the semis, over Bloomer-Colfax’s Dyllon Zweifelhofer, by fall, in 1:22. Duellman then won in the first place match against Reedsville’s Logan Lodel, with a 15-5 decision.

Angell also placed for his team, coming home with third place, winning over Keanu Maphis (Black River Falls), in a 2:43 fall, while Jones placed 10th, dropping his match with Lucas Lodel, of Reedsville, by an 8-7 decision.
