Cadott matmen hit the road

Cadott’s boys wrestling program packed up and headed to Ladysmith, Jan. 13, for an invitational tournament, gaining more valuable experience as the season progresses.
Two grapplers fought their way to the championship matches in their weight class, with each ultimately taking home second place. One of those, was senior Axel Tegels (215 pounds), who dropped the title match to Easton Stone, of Rice Lake, in a 10-3 decision. The other was junior Tucker Salzgeber (285), who faced off with Ladysmith’s Jack Lazar, dropping the bout by a 1:22 fall.
Coming away with third place for the Hornets, was junior Kaleb Lodahl (120), who won over Bruce’s Ronan Garcia, in a 14-11 decision. Freshman Jon Phelps (144) also got the win for third place, with a victory over Connor Carlson, of Cameron, in an 11-3 major decision. Also placing third, was senior Caden Kingston (175), getting the win over Abbotsford-Colby’s Jacob Hoppe, by fall, in 4:00.
Taking fourth place, was sophomore Anthony Glenz (285), with a win over Nate Windorski, Rice Lake, in a 2:53 fall. Earning fifth place, was sophomore Monte Lodahl (126), winning over freshman teammate Garrett Engel, in a 3:07 fall.
Also taking the fifth place win, was freshman Owen Fasbender (138), winning over Owen Anderson (Turtle Lake-Clayton), in a 5-2 decision, as well as sophomore Mitchell Reineke (190), who got the win over Ayron Deleasky, of Phillps, in just 30 seconds.
Senior Nick Goettl (132) ended in seventh, with a win over Cameron’s Bruno Palacios, by fall, in 2:48.
