NGL wrestles to 3 victories at Stanley-Boyd

The Neillsville-Greenwood-Loyal (NGL) wrestlers made a strong showing at their meet at Stanley-Boyd last week when they defeated all three of their opponents.

Stanley-Boyd The Stanley-Boyd Orioles presented the toughest challenge for NGL, at least in the sense that the score was the closest in the end. However, NGL still got the 45-36 win. Earning 6 points for NGL were Hudzon Sebesta-Opelt, Gavyn McFarlane, Jakob Luchterhand, Dane Luchterhand, Chase Lindner, Rydge Tibbett and Josh Reis. Jackson Meyer earned his team 3 points. Sebesta-Opelt (150 pounds) won by forfeit, as did Lindner (106). McFarlane (157) defeated Brodric Westrom by fall (2:42). Jakob Luchterhand (165) defeated Candin Yeager (fall 0:00). Dane Luchterhand won over Aaron Sturm by fall (1:29). Meyer (285) won by 5-1 decision. Tibbett defeated Anna Krizan by fall (1:50). Reis (120) won against Stephen Lin by fall (0:40).

McDonell Catholic/Elk Mound NGL only allowed McDonell Catholic/Elk Mound to score 6 points against them. That was when Isabella Giza (165) defeated Kordelia Geiger of NGL (fall 0:17).

NGL had 12 wrestlers score 6 points apiece. Sebesta-Opelt won by forfeit, as did McFarlane, Jakob Luchterhand, Tibbett, Reis and Adam Kautzer. Dane Luchterhand defeated Brady Mathison by fall (1:07). Damian Sampson (215) defeated Jesse Baxter (fall 5:24). Meyer won against Wyatt Pelkey by fall (2:43). Lindner defeated McKenzie Simonson by fall (3:04). Jerome Buchanan (138) defeated Ford Hay by fall (2:36). Michael Harris defeated Luca Burrow by fall (0:24).

NGL earned the decisive 72-6 victory.

Bloomer/Colfax NGL had 10 wrestlers each score 6 points against Bloomer/Colfax. McFarlane defeated Dyllon Zwiefelhofer by fall (1:59). Dane Luchterhand defeated Kendra Hamman by fall (0:34). Kautzer defeated Jacob LaGesse by fall (1:18). Harris defeated Aiden Poirer by fall (1:39). Joseph Dull (165) won via forfeit, as did Jakob Luchterhand, Sampson, Meyer, Lindner and Buchanan. Also scoring points for NGL was Sebesta-Opelt, who scored 5 points by defeating James McElroy by technical fall, 16-0.

Tibbett lost to Drew Ryder by major decision, 8-0. Reis lost to Zeke Anderson by fall (1:27). Bloomer/Colfax also picked up 6 points in the 126-pound weight class when NGL forfeited. However, Bloomer/Colfax did not score nearly enough and NGL took home the 65-16 win.
