Cadott grapplers improve season dual record to 6-3

In their first home dual meet of the year, the Cadott wrestling program saw three schools come to town.
Dec. 21 vs. Ladysmith (48-33)
First up on the night, was Ladysmith, where the Hornets went 48-33 over the visitors, for an early 1-0 lead in the dual.
Senior Nick Goettl (138 pounds) started off the winning ways, getting the victory over Wyatt Bosteder, in a 3:17 fall, followed by freshman Owen Fasbender (144), who won over Agustin Flores, by fall, in 3:13. Freshman Jon Phelps (157) also came up with the victory, against Edward Prasnicky, in a 1:47 fall, while senior Caden Kingston (175) claimed the win over Jayden Jochem, by fall, in 1:24.
Receiving forfeit wins, were junior Kaleb Lodahl (120), freshman Tessa York (126), freshman Brenton Faber (150) and senior Axel Tegels (215).
Dec. 21 vs. Black River Falls (W 60-12)
Up next, was Black River Falls, with Cadott also coming up with the win, 60-12, to move to 2-0 on the night.
Sophomore Monte Lodahl (138) got the win over Gavin Garcia, by a 15-0 technical fall, followed by Fasbender, with a victory over Austin Lund, in a 3:32 fall. Faber also got a win over Sander King, in a 14-6 major decision, while Phelps took down Katelyn Nosbisch, by fall, in 1:02.
Kingston also won his match against Wyatt Moses, with an 8-3 decision, with sophomore Mitchell Reineke winning over Jevon Rave, in a 2:46 fall. Tegels again claimed victory, this time, against Maleki Lee, by fall, in 3:29.
Getting the win by forfeit, were sophomore Iszy Sonnentag (113), K. Lodahl, York and Goettl.
Dec. 21 vs. Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau (L 54-22)
Finally, Cadott took on GET, but that was where they faced a true challenge, dropping the bout, 54-22, to go 2-1 in the duals.
K. Lodahl won his match over Brody Banse, with a 15-1 major decision, followed by Fasbender, with the win over Macki Kaz, in just 49 seconds, while Kingston claimed victory against Braden Peterson, by fall, in 1:08. Junior Tucker Salzgeber also got the win over Cisco Jimenez, in just a 48-second fall.
“I was very pleased with our effort and our ability to fight through tough situations,” said boys head coach Josh Spaeth. “Our team continues to work hard, and improve each and every week.”
