Deer Related

On September 30, at 10:42 a.m., a vehicle driven by Dakota Peissig, 31, of Stetsonville struck a deer on STH 13 in the town of Little Black.

On October 1, at 8:15 a.m., a vehicle driven by Justin Holland, 42, of Chippewa Falls struck a deer on Apple Ave. in the town of Little Black.

On October 1, at 8:54 p.m., a vehicle driven by Shana Herzig, 28, of Gilman struck a deer on STH 73 in the town of Roosevelt.

On October 5, at 6:10 a.m., a vehicle driven by Aaron Weiland, 28, of Dorchester struck a deer on Sunset Dr. in the town of Little Black.

On October 8, at 12:15 a.m., a vehicle driven by Michael Latsch, 45, of Medford struck a deer on STH 64 in the town of Browning.

One Vehicle Crash

On September 21, at 3:15 p.m., a vehicle driven by Kurt Handrick Jr., 59, of Marathon City was traveling eastbound on CTH M when Handrick swerved to miss a deer. Handrick’s vehicle ran onto the south shoulder but over corrected and entered the north ditch. Handrick’s vehicle overturned once before coming to a rest in the north ditch. There were no apparent injuries as a result of the crash. Handrick’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

Two Vehicle Crash

On October 10, at 3:08 p.m., a vehicle driven by Cynthia Mattson, 60, of Ogema was facing westbound while parked in a parking stall. Another vehicle, driven by Patrick Janko, of Medford was parked in a parking stall located to the east of Mattson’s vehicle. Mattson backed out of the parking space and into the rear of Janko’s vehicle. The accident caused minor damage to both vehicles. There were no injuries as a result of the accident.

Three Vehicle Crash

On October 6, at 10:30 a.m., a vehicle driven by Shirley Ulrich, 87, of Medford was parking in the Aspirus parking lot, when she pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal. Ulrich’s vehicle drove over the curb, into rock landscaping and struck two unoccupied, parked vehicles. These vehicles were owned by David Fowell of Merrill and Melanie Buttke of Medford. Ulrich was not injured as a result of the accident. All three vehicles had minor damage.


On October 4 at 7:15 p.m., a semi driven by Carl Baumgarten, 61, of Reedsville was traveling northbound on STH 13. Baumgarten proceeded to make a right turn onto Perkins St. and while turning Baumgarten’s trailer struck the traffic light pole in the southeast corner of the intersection. Video footage shows Baumgarten stopped upon striking the pole, before eventually proceeding into the Kwik Trip parking lot. Baumgarten left the scene and this complaint was called in by a passerby.Medford police department
