Spencer cross country team competes at Athens
The Spencer Rockets traveled to Athens last Thursday for a large cross country meet, with 13 teams competing for the girls and 15 teams for the boys.
One-hundred ten girls competed in the girls’ race. Theresa Knecht was the fastest female runner for Spencer, taking 66th place with a time of 25:39.2. The next Rocket runner, Kaydence Plaskey, took 74th place at 26:21.7. Clelia Foulon-Detrez took third at 26:41.2. Brooklyn Baumgarten finished 86th at 27:40.1, with Ariana Krueger just barely behind her, coming in 87th with a time of 27:42.7. Tahneya Anderson took 100th place at 30:19.6 and Kaitlin Radue finished eighth at 30:50.7.
The Spencer girls finished in 13th place out of 13 teams with 309 points. The top three teams were Phillips with 66 points, Stratford with 74 and Chequemgon with 98.
In the boys’ race, Spencer’s Isaac Howlett took 55th place out of 125 runners with a time of 20:18.3. Breckin Miller came in 63rd with a time of 20:32.3. Davide Chemello claimed 81st place, finishing in 21:36.9. Next was Fletcher Post, whose time of 22:12.7 was good for 97th place. Henry Glamm placed 113th with a time of 23:45.9.
The Spencer boys took 15th place as a team with 353 points. The top three teams were Phillips with 74 points, Rib Lake/ Prentice with 90 and Marathon with 136.
