Spencer volleyball has busy week
The Spencer Rockets volleyball team competed in a pair of Cloverbelt Conference games and a tournament over the weekend.
On Sept. 19, the team was at Gilman, where they won 3-1. The Rockets lost the first set to the Pirates, 25-19, and went on to sweep the next three sets. The final scores for each set were 25-18, 25-17 and 25-19.
On Thursday, the Rockets were back at home competing against Loyal. Loyal took the win in each of the three games played, winning 25-11, 26-24 and 25-20. For the Greyhounds, Autumn Zvolena, Addysen Wolf and Molly Zvolena equally contributed for kills, Danielle Strey led in assists and Mya Rueth led with aces. The Rockets concluded their busy week with a tournament in Abbotsford on Sept. 23. The Rockets played two sets each against Stratford, Abbotsford and Goodman-Pembine and three sets against Rosholt. In competition against Stratford and Abbotsford, the Rockets came close, but were unable to win. Spencer fell to Stratford 25-13 and 25-21. The Rockets fell just short when facing Abbotsford, losing the first set 26-24 and the second 25-19. The Rockets fared better in their match against Goodman-Pembine. Spencer won both of those games, beating Goodman Pembine 25-9 and 25-12. In the best-of-three match against Rosholt, Spencer won the first set 28-26, but could not replicate their success in the next two sets, falling to Rosholt 25-16 and 15-9. In the tournament, Hannah Reckner had six ace serves. Claudia Krause led her team in kills, with 23. Reckner had 16 and Carmen Krause 15. Alexa Stange led in digs, with 46. Reckner had 27 digs. Alisia Bocchino led in assists, with 63.
