Red Raider Hall of Fame set

Marathon High School will honor its five Class of 2023 Red Raider Hall of Fame inductees during a ceremony at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10, at the high school auditorium. The public is welcome to attend.
The following are this year’s Red Raider Hall of Fame inductees: John Bartlett graduated from Marathon High School in 1946. Bartlett was an accomplished athlete in high school who was an unanimous first team all-conference basketball player. After high school, he was one of the most successful Wisconsin high school baseball coaches in state history by achieving 455 wins while coaching at Marion High School.
Dick Helling coached Marathon High School track and field for 28 years, including 25 of those as head coach. The Marathon track and field teams he coached won 11 conference championships, 12 regional championships and a state runners-up finish. Helling also coached football, basketball and wrestling.
Virgil Lang graduated from Marathon High School in 1969. He was Marathon’s Most Valuable Player in both basketball and track. Lang was the team captain and he was a first team all-conference football player. He was a member of the first ever organized football and baseball teams in Marathon. He also earned a National “W” Club Certificate of Merit.
Jay Prihoda graduated from Marathon High School in 1995. He was a first team all-conference player in football, basketball and baseball. Prihoda was also awarded All State in basketball and he was the Wausau Daily Herald Athlete of the Year. After high school, he never missed a game while playing basketball at St. Norbert College in DePere.
Lisa Siegenthaler graduated from Marathon High School in 1988. She participated in volleyball, basketball and track. Siegenthaler held Marathon volleyball team all-time records in season, match and career assists along with season and career serving records. After graduation, she was a four-year letter winner and two-time team captain in volleyball at UW-Eau Claire. There is a hustle award named in her honor that is awarded to a volleyball player during Marathon High School’s annual early bird tournament.
