Much to their delight, the Loyal High School girls track and field team worked their way to the top of the leaderboard at the May 16 Eastern Cloverbelt Conference Championship in Gilman to earn first place. The girls finished with 192.5 points, well ahead of second-place Colby with 157 points. Other point totals were: Neillsville 89, Gilman 82, Columbus Catholic 51.5, Owen-Withee 30, Greenwood 23, Spencer 23 and Granton 22.

The Greyhound girls scored early and often throughout the night, with many top eight finishers. Claiming first place were: Sheila Tellock in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 9’6”; and Alyssia Zvolena in the high jump, at 5’0”. The girls 4x100m relay team also took first at 53.10.

Addysen Wolf took second place in the 100m dash, at 13 seconds flat, as well as in the 200m dash at 27.11 and the 400m dash at 1:02.76. Also taking second were: Olivia Nikolai in the pole vault at 8’6”, Autumn Zvolena in the high jump at 5’0”, the 4x800m relay team at 11:35.98 and the 4x200m relay team at 1:54.02.

The Loyal boys finished sixth out of nine teams with 74 points. Other team scores were: Neillsville 140, Owen-Withee 129.3, Spencer 113, Colby 109, Columbus Catholic 78.7, Greenwood 27, Gilman 14 and Granton 6.

The Loyal boys 4x400m relay team finished first at 3:46.69.

Spencer results The Spencer boys placed third as a a team. Jonathan Jonas and Breckin Miller each won an event or events; Jonas won the 100m dash with a time of 11:59 and the 200m dash at 23:58, and Miller won the pole vault after clearing a height of 13’0”.

20.83; Elisha Blanchard, 8th, discus, 70’8”; Alyssa Kobs,

6th, shot put, 27’1”. The girls 4x400m relay team placed second at 4:48.16.

Greenwood results On the girls’ side, individuals earning points for Greenwood were as follows.

Katlund Etlicher, 6th, 1600m run, 7:13.83, 5th, 3200m run, 16:02.35; Sarah Reiff, 4th, shot put, 28’7”; Renaya Horvath, 1st, wheelchair shot put, 12’4.25”, 1st, 100m wheelchair race, 26.91. Also, the Greenwood girls 4x100m relay finished sixth with a time of 1:00.08, the 4x200m relay team took fifth at 2:08.09 and the 4x400m relay team took fifth at 5:11.47.

The Greenwood boys also had a couple of individual point scorers: Christian Thomas, 6th, 110m hurdles,

18.64, 7th, 300m hurdles, 48.47; Rogan Travis, 2nd, discus,

122’11”, 1st, shot put, 42’10.75”. The boys 4x100m relay team placed seventh at 56.17 and the 4x200m relay team placed fifth at 1:46.61.
