Several Spencer track and field athletes etched their names in the school record books after their performance at the Stratford Invitational on May 4.

The boys 4x100m relay team completed their race in 45.08 seconds, enough to break the school record set back in 1981. Team members were Elliott Bauer, Landon Behselich, Johnathon Jonas and Levi Anderson. They took third place in that event.

The 4x200m relay team consisting of Bauer, Behselich, Jonas and Breckin Miller also broke a school record. They finished their race in 1:35.11, good for second place at the meet and enough to break the school record set in 2004.

A couple of other relay teams also placed in the top eight to score points for their team at the meet. The 4x400m team — including Anderson, Behselich, Jonas and Logan Ehlert — placed third with a time of 3:47.35. The 4x800m team — including Logan Ehlert, Isaac Howlett, Teddy Meyer and Devyn Schmidt — took fifth with a time of 10:19.67.

Other point scorers for the Spencer boys were the following. Miller placed second in the pole vault at 12’6” and third in the 110m hurdles at 16.53. Kyle Nieman placed second in the 110m hurdles at 16.44, fourth in the pole vault at 11’6” and fifth in the 300m hurdles at 46.61. Bauer took seventh in the 100m dash at 11.87. Anderson took seventh in the 200m dash at 24.58.

The Spencer boys scored 59 points, good for sixth place among 12 teams. Other team scores were: Stratford 117.5, Edgar 99, Colby 70, Owen-Withee 68, Athens 65, Spencer 59, Auburndale 56, Pittsville 50, Assumption 40, Loyal 39, Columbus Catholic 28 and Greenwood 9.5.

On the girls’ side, Autumn Davis placed sixth in the 200m dash at 28.61. The girls 4x400m relay team also took fourth place at 4:48.92. Team members were Caitlin Clark, Davis, Alina Jackson and Rachel Nieman. The Spencer girls had eight points total to take 11th place. Other team scores were: Edgar 115.5, Loyal 103, Stratford 99.5, Assumption 90, Colby 88, Athens 62.5, Owen-Withee 42.5, Pittsville 41, Columbus Catholic 21, Auburndale 15.5 and Greenwood 3.5.
