Loyal girls 2nd; Spencer boys 3rd at Gilman meet

With numerous athletes placing in the top eight for the Loyal girls, and relay teams being a strong area for the Spencer boys, the teams managed to place second and third place respectively, at the May 2 Gilman Invitational.

The Greyhound girls had one individual and two relay teams take first place. Sheila Tellock won the pole vault by reaching a height of 9’. She also took fourth place in the 300m hurdles with a time of 53.38. Relay teams taking first place were the 4x100m relay (52.87) and the 4x200m relay (1:52.14). The 4x800m relay team took third (11:39.93) and the 4x400m relay team was fifth (4:58.78).

Other individual results for the Loyal girls are as follows: Alyssia Zvolena, 2nd, high jump, 5’; Leah Scherer, 3rd, 100m dash, 13.39; Addysen Wolf, 3rd, 200m dash, 27.36; Aubre Robida, 4th, 100m dash, 13.56; Hope Peroshek, 4th, discus, 82’4”; Autumn Zvolena, 5th, 800m run, 2:51.54, 5th, high jump, 4’6”; Olivia Nikolai, 6th, pole vault, 7’; Shalisha Buchanan, 6th, shot put, 30’5”, 7th, discus, 73’1”; Gwen LaMarr, 7th, 300m hurdles, 1:01.10, 8th, 100m hurdles, 19.90; Molly Zvolena, 8th, triple jump, 27’6.5”; Maci Bogdonovich, 8th, 400m dash, 1:14.27. The Loyal boys had two relay teams and several individuals place in the top eight. Taking first place was the 4x400m relay team, which completed the course in 3:50.20. The 4x100m throwers relay team took second place with a time of 59.30.

Individual results for the Loyal boys are as follows: Parker Smith, 1st, 300m hurdles, 45.88, 6th, 110m hurdles, 19.19; Bryce Deegan, 2nd, triple jump, 38’8.5”, 2nd, 400m dash, 54.88, 5th, 200m dash, 24.35; Connor Genteman, 3rd, 1600m run, 4:50.16, 3rd, 800m run, 2:12.14; Roby Beranek, 3rd, shot put, 42’9.5”, 4th, discus, 105’9”; Peyton Tsai, 5th, pole vault, 8’; Jaden Smith, 5th, discus, 104’1”, 7th, shot put, 33’2”.

Spencer results The Spencer Rockets had numerous relay teams place in the top eight, with two relay teams taking first place. The boys 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams won their races, with times of 47.87 and 1:36.71, respectively. The boys 4x400m relay team took second with a time of 3:50.98, the boys 4x100 throwers relay took fifth (1:02.32) and the boys 4x800m relay team placed sixth (11:04.03).

For the girls relay teams, the 4x400m relay (4:56.54) and the 4x100m relay (1:01.05) teams both took fourth and the 4x200m relay team finished in fifth place with a time of 2:09.61.

Individual results for the Rockets are as follows: Kyle Nieman, 1st, 110m hurdles, 16.35, 1st, pole vault, 11’, 3rd, 300m hurdles, 47.75; Breckin Miller, 2nd, 110m hurdles, 16.51; Johnathon Jonas, 3rd, 200m dash, 23.88; Elliot Bauer, 4th, 100m dash, 11.76; Carter Griepentrog, 6th, discus, 97’; Autumn Davis, 7th, 200m dash, 29.11; Caitlin Clark, 8th, 100m dash, 14.29, 8th, long jump, 13’6.5”; Logan Ehlert, 8th, 800m run, 2:32.63; Ryan Pokallus, 8th, shot put, 32’1”.

Greenwood results The Greenwood track and field team also competed at Gilman, but only had a couple of individuals and relay teams place in the top eight. Renaya Horvath won both the 100m wheelchair (33.71) and the shot put wheelchair (11’4.25”) events. Christian Thomas took fourth in the 300m hurdles (48.42) and fifth in the 110m hurdles (18.93), and Sarah Reiff placed seventh in the 400m dash with a time of 1:12.26. The Indians also had one relay team compete and place, the boys 4x100m throwers relay team took eighth with a time of 1:07.28.

Overall results In women’s events, the Loyal girls took second with 96 points, finishing behind Ladysmith (132). Also placing were Colby (91.5), Cadott (85), Three Lakes (70), Gilman (64.5), Bruce (39), Columbus Catholic (31), Owen-Withee (29) and Prentice (21). Spencer took 11th with 19 points and Greenwood placed 12th with four points.

In men’s events, the Spencer boys took third with 80 points, finishing behind Owen-Withee (86.5) and Colby (104). Ladysmith and Loyal tied for fourth place with 76 points each, Three Lakes was sixth (68), Cadott was seventh (57.5), Bruce was eighth (56.5), Columbus Catholic took ninth (56), Prentice was 10th (11), Greenwood placed 11th with nine points and Gilman took 12th (6.5).
