LG softball falls to Columbus, Neillsville; defeats Spencer
The Loyal-Greenwood (LG) softball team endured a couple losses last week, but ended the week on a high note by winning over the Spencer Rockets.
On Tuesday, May 2, the girls traveled to Marshfield to take on Columbus Catholic in a double-header. Unfortunately for LG, they lost 17-4 and 14-1. Delaney Kirchner, Tysen Lindner and Mya Rueth each had hits for the LG Wolves. Addison Davidson had two walks, as did Gianna Petkovsek. Kirchner and Maddi Raese each had one.
In the first game, Columbus committed three errors while LG had one. In the second game, Columbus committed four errors and LG had none.
Last Thursday, LG played Neillsville at Greenwood. Neillsville scored 12 runs over the course of the game, while LG only mustered four, leading to a loss. Courtney Rakovec led LG in hits, with two. Rueth, Tysen Lindner, Aspen Hagen, Raese and Liv Lucas each had one. Kirchner, Lucas and Tysen Lindner each got a walk.
Back at Greenwood on Friday, LG turned things around with two wins over Spencer, 23-5 and 16-14. Addison Davidson was the winning pitcher for the first game. She pitched for three innings, striking out three. Davidson also was the winning pitcher in the second game, pitching for five innings with three strikeouts. Also in that game, she scored three runs. Tiffany Mitte had four runs; Aspen Hagen and Tysen Lindner had three; and Lucas, Reese Clintsman and Paisley Hagen had one. Mitte also had three hits in three at-bats.
For the Rockets in their second game against LG, Keely Schuh had two hits. Kaelyn Schreiner, Samantha Soback, Hannah Schreiner, Emma Nieman and Hailey Rucker each had one hit.
