The Loyal track and field team once again put together a strong showing at it slatest track and field meet, with a long list of athletes making the top eight in their respective events to earn points for the Greyhounds.

At the April 25 meet in Black River Falls, the Loyal girls earned 135.5 points, second to Westby with 186 points. However, there was a large gap between the top two teams and the rest. Other scores were: Royall 62, Melrose-Mindoro 58.5, Bangor 54, Tomah 44, Black River Falls 35, Neillsville 34, Sparta 33.5, Blair-Taylor 23 and Alma Center Lincoln 9.5.

On the boys’ side, only the top five teams were listed, with Loyal not making the top five. Scores were: Tomah 153, Bangor 92, Black River Falls 92, Neillsville

84 and Sparta 62.

Top eight finishers for the girls were as follows, listed by event:

100m dash — Leah Scherer, 1st, 13.28; Addysen Wolf, 3rd, 13.43; Aubre Robida,

6th, 13.61.

200m dash — Scherer, 1st, 27.41; Wolf,

2nd, 27.99; Robida, 5th, 28.71.

400m dash — Noelle Teschner, 6th,

1:12.52.

800m run — Autumn Zvolena, 5th,

2:52.09; Maci Bogdonovich, 7th, 2:59.36.

1600m run — Summer Smith, 7th,

6:29.66.

100m hurdles — Gwen LaMarr, 7th,

20.63.

300m hurdles — Sheila Tellock, 5th,

52.63.

High jump — Alyssia Zvolena, 2nd,

4’10”; Autumn Zvolena, 3rd, 4’10”; Wolf,

5th, 4’8”.

Long jump — Molly Zvolena, 6th, 13’10”; Summer Smith, 7th, 13’9.5”.

Triple jump — Molly Zvolena, 7th,

29’4.5”; Summer Smith, 8th, 28’9”.

Pole vault — Tellock, 2nd, 9’. Discus — Hope Peroshek, 3rd, 82’7”; Shalisha Buchanan, 8th, 73’7”.

Shot put — Buchanan, 4th, 29’3.25”. Also, the girls’ 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams both took first, with times of 51.81 and 1:56.92, respectively. The 4x400m and

4x800m relay teams both took third, with times of 4:56.79 and 12:21.01, respectively.

On the boys’ side, senior Roby Beranek claimed first place in the shot put after finishing near the top at several previous meets, a feat made more impressive considering the fact this is his first year out for track. He had a distance of 43’5.5”. Other top eight finishers for the boys were the following athletes:

400m dash — Bryce Deegan, 4th, 55.68.

800m run — Connor Genteman, 3rd,

2:06.89.

1600m run — Genteman, 2nd, 4:43.97.

110m hurdles — Parker Smith, 5th,

19.41; Ridge Ashbeck, 8th, 22.03.

300m hurdles — Parker Smith, 3rd,

45.67; Ashbeck, 8th, 52.25.

Triple jump — Deegan, 3rd, 37’11”. Discus — Jaden Smith, 7th, 103’8”. In addition, the boys’ 4x400m relay team took third at 3:48.13, the 4x100m throwers’ relay team took fifth at 57.71 and the regular 4x100m relay team took eighth at 52.13.

Loyal’s Ethan Lindner safely reaches second in the game last Friday at Greenwood. The Greenwood Indians narrowly lost to the Loyal Greyhounds,
