Spencer baseball team earns victories against Nekoosa, Wisconsin Rapids
The Spencer High School varsity baseball team has gotten the season off to a good start with two wins under their belt. On April 3, the Spencer Rockets faced off against the Nekoosa Papermakers at Nekoosa, earning a decisive 14-2 win.
The winning pitcher was starting pitcher Andrew Sieracki, who allowed no runs, struck out four and only gave up three hits in four innings of work.
As a team, Spencer collected 16 hits, and scored in four of five innings. Top hitters were Reed Knecht, who went 2-2, with two doubles and four RBIs; Tyler Peterson, who went 2-4, with two RBIs and two runs scored; and Andrew Sieracki, also 2-4, with one double and two RBIs.
Neither team committed any errors. Spencer also played Stanley-Boyd (S-B) in Wisconsin Rapids on April 10. Spencer was the home team and won 14-3. The Rockets scored four runs in the first inning, six in the second and four more in the fourth to take the win, with the S-B Orioles only scoring two runs in the fifth inning.
S-B committed five errors compared to Spencer’s one.
Reed Knecht was the winning pitcher, with four innings pitched, two hits allowed, one run and four strikeouts.
Top hitters for the Rockets were as follows. Tyler Peterson went 2-3, with one walk, two runs, one RBI and one stolen base. Reed Knecht was 2-2, with two walks, one double, two runs and one stolen base. Connor Bacon went 2-3, with two RBIs, one run and one stolen base. Nathan Rucker went 2-3 with one double, one run and one RBI.
