Loyal girls track team rises to top at UWSP meet

The Loyal girls track and field team took first place in a field of 27 teams at the Rosholt-Webko-Politos Invitational held at UW-Stevens Point Multi-Activity Center on March 31. The Greyhound girls had one relay team and one individual athlete win their respective events, while other individuals and relay teams placed in the top eight to score enough points for the team to win the night’s competition.

Sheila Tellock took first place in the pole vault, vaulting to a height of 9’ in the individual event. She was also a member of the 4x200m relay alongside Leah Scherer, Addysen Wolf and Aubre Robida, which placed first with a combined time of 1:53.04. The 4x400m relay team (Noelle Teschner, Summer Smith, Tellock, Wolf) also competed for Loyal, taking fourth place with a time of 4:37.17.

Other individual results for the Loyal girls are as follows: Alyssia Zvolena, 2nd, high jump, 5’; Olivia Nikolai, 3rd, pole vault, 8’, 17th, 60m hurdles, 12.05; Summer Smith, 5th, triple jump, 30’4”, 12th 1600m run, 6:35.52; Aubre Robida, 6th, 60m dash, 8.50; Addysen Wolf, 7th, high jump, 4’8”; Autumn Zvolena, 7th, high jump, 4’8”, 24th, 800m run, 2:54.35; Shalisha Buchanan, 7th, shot put, 31’7”; Leah Scherer, 9th, 60m dash, 8.50; Hannah Smith, 9th, shot put, 29’9”; Molly Zvolena, 11th, long jump, 14’4”, 12th, triple jump, 29’1”; Alexis Meyer, 13th, high jump, 4’3”; Gwen LaMarr, 16th, long jump, 12’9”; Noelle Teschner, 23rd, 400m dash, 1:10.87; Hannah Strey, 27th, 60m hurdles, 13.08; Hope Peroshek, 29th, 60m dash, 9.07; Maci Bogdonovich, 34th, 800m run, 3:08.58; Addison Holm, 41st, 400m dash, 1:20.88.

The Loyal boys also competed at the March 31 invite, taking 12th place overall. Individually, Roby Beranek placed the highest, tying for second with Charlie Lorbiecki of Rosholt in the shot put. They both threw for a distance of 43’5.5”. The Greyhounds’ only relay team of Sully Hanson, Devon Roehl, Jaden Smith and Beranek completed the 4x200m relay, placing 27th with a time of 2:03.55.

Other individual results for the Loyal boys are as follows: Bryce Deegan, 4th, 400m dash, 56.07, 9th, triple jump, 37’, 33rd, long jump, 16’5”; Connor Genteman, 4th, 1600m run, 4:43.83, 6th, 800m run, 2:09.59; Sully Hanson, 15th, shot put, 38’4”; Peyton Tsai, 20th, high jump, 5’, 43rd, long jump, 14’8”; Rory Hanson, 25th, 400m dash, 1:00.61; Jaden Smith, 47th, shot put, 31’3”; Kody Szaflarski, 53rd, 800m run, 3:13.34; Preston Farmer, 68th, 60m dash, 9.33; Devon Roehl, 71st, shot put, 26’7”.

The Spencer track and field team also competed at the Rosholt-Webko-Politos Invitational. None of the Rocket athletes were able to place in the top eight, but gained experience through the event.

In the boys’ events, two relay teams ran for the Rockets. The 4x400m relay was completed by Teddy Meyer, Clay Nieman, Logan Ehlert and Isaac Howlett in 4:24.63 to take 19th. Nieman, Meyer and Howlett ran with Mason Dieringer in the 4x200m relay, finishing in 1:57.14 to take 21st.
