The Greenwood and Granton track and field teams competed at Marshfield this past week in a pair of indoor meets, held for the boys on March 21 and for the girls teams on March 23. Both teams had a few individuals and relay teams place in the top eight to score points.

On March 21, the Greenwood boys had one individual and one relay team place in the top eight. Christian Thomas took third place overall in the 60-yard (yd) hurdles, running a 9.87. Finishing in eighth place was the 4x160yd relay team of Jaren Cullen, Hunter Ellis, Peyton Ellis and Caden Arteman. They ran for a combined time of 1:31.76.

Other individual results for the Greenwood boys are as follows: Christian Thomas, 12th, 220yd dash, 28.52, 14th, long jump, 15’6.5”; Hunter Ellis, 13th, 220yd dash, 29.24; Andy Mitchell, 17th, 880yd run, 3:13.44; Caden Arteman, 18th, shot put, 29’4”; Peyton Ellis, 21st, 60yd dash, 7.75.

The Granton boys team had two individuals place in varsity events at Marshfield. Alex Gardner placed in three events, with one placing in the top eight. Gardner took seventh in the 220-yard dash with a time of 26.84, 12th in the long jump with a leap of 16’1.5” and 13th in the 60-yard dash with a time of 7.24. Koltin Luchterhand also placed, taking 15th in the 440-yard dash with a time of 1:11.14.

A total of 13 teams competed in the boys meet on March 21. Granton scored two points to place 13th and Greenwood took 11th place with seven points. The top three teams placing at the meet were Marshfield (126), Abbotsford (70) and Owen-Withee (68).

In the girls meet held on March 23, the Greenwood and Granton teams had numerous athletes compete and place, but only a few managed to place within the top eight.

The Greenwood athletes had one first-place finish from Renaya Horvath, who took first place in the shot put wheelchair event. She threw for a distance of 10’7” to win the event. The Indians also had a team compete in the 4x320yd relay, which placed fifth overall with a time of 3:35.32.

Other individual results for the Greenwood girls are as follows: Sarah Reiff, 10th, 60yd dash, 8.02, 10th, 220yd dash, 31.41, 18th, shot put, 25’4.5”; Katlund Etlicher, 16th, mile run, 7:47.88; Kayla Grambsch, 19th, long jump, 12’0.5”, 22nd, triple jump, 23’7.5”; Lainy Trampush, 19th, triple jump, 24’0.25”, 23rd, 220yd dash, 34.17; Paige Beyerl, 25th, 440yd dash, 1:35.93, 35th, long jump, 9’9.5”, 41st, 60yd dash, 9.96; Ella Reimer, 28th, 220yd dash, 34.65.

The Granton track and field team had a few individuals and one relay team place in the top eight. Lizzy Reinart tied for fourth place in the high jump, leaping to a height of 4’6”. Taking eighth place was Anna Kayhart, who leapt 28’3.5” in the triple jump to earn the placing. The 4x320yd relay, completed by Anna Kayhart, Alexis Pongratz, Maya McConkey and Faustina Thomas, finished fourth with a time of 3:30.32.

Other individual results for the Granton girls are as follows: Faustina Thomas, 10th, triple jump, 27’4”, 18th, 60yd dash, 8.24; Anna Kayhart, 11th, 60yd hurdles, 10.84, 26th, shot put, 22’6.5”; Jordan Berg, 12th, long jump, 12’8.5”, 27th, 220yd dash, 34.59; Abby Schoessow, 18th, mile, 8:35.75, 34th, long jump, 9’11”; Maya McConkey, 20th, long jump, 12’, 30th, 60yd dash, 8.68; Alexis Pongratz, 23rd, triple jump, 22’9”; Tori Seif, 28th, shot put, 21’11”; Lizzy Reinart, 35th, 220yd dash, 36.21; Emma Brookhart, 60yd dash, 9.24; Abby Woller, 40th, shot put, 19’6”; Emma Woller, 41st, 220yd dash, 39.31.

Fourteen teams competed in the Marshfield girls meet. Greenwood finished 13th overall with four points and Granton took 12th place with 10 points. The top three teams placing at the meet were Marshfield (254), Colby (54.5) and Wittenberg-Birnamwood (45).

Tori Seif of Granton completes a throw in the shot put event during the Marshfield girls track and field meet held March 23. Seif took 28th place in the event, with her best throw for the night traveling 21’11”. The boys teams for Granton and Greenwood competed a couple days before in their own separate meet March 21.
