Janke, Warren All-State
Both are also Marawood’s best players

Grant Warren, Marathon’s six-footnine junior center, was a double-double machine in scoring points and grabbing rebounds in games this season. He was an unanimous first team all-conference player who helped the Red Raiders win back-to-back Marawood Conference South championships and the WIAA Division 4 regional crown.
Marathon wouldn’t have enjoyed as much success this season without Warren’s towering presence in the post and finesse shooting. The Red Raiders finished this season with a 23-4 record.
For this tremendous effort, Warren was awarded Marawood South Conference Player of the Year for averaging 23.7 points, 12.4 rebounds, 3.2 blocks and 2.4 assists per game during the conference schedule. Warren also was awarded Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division 4 first team all-state this season. For the entire season, Warren averaged 24 points, 13.4 rebounds, 3.3 blocks and 2.4 assists per game.
Wausau Newman senior guard Mason Prey joins Warren as a WBCA first team all-state player after helping the Cardinals win their first Division 5 state boys basketball championship last weekend.
Athens senior center Aiden Janke was awarded the Marawood North Conference Co-Player of the Year with senior Isaiah Deitz of Chequamegon. Janke averaged 17.2 points, 13.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals per game for the Bluejays during the conference schedule.
Janke was an unanimous first team all-conference player who helped Athens win its third straight Marawood North Conference championship. Athens finished this season with a 20-6 record. Janke also was awarded WBCA Division 5 honorable mention all-state this season.
Athens senior guard Connor Sheahan was also awarded unanimous first team all-Marawood North Conference this season. Sheahan averaged 16.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game in conference games. Janke and Sheahan are joined by Dietz, senior Nate Belan of Phillips and senior Ashton Makovsky of Prentice on the all-conference first team.
Bluejays junior Andy Schaer received second team all-Marawood North Conference honors. Schaer averaged 13.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and one assist per game in the conference season. He is joined on the second team by Prentice senior Layne Blomberg, Rib Lake senior Tanner Vlach, Rib Lake junior Jackson Blomberg, Abbotsford senior Brandon Diedrich and Prentice freshman Evan Lord.
Athens seniors Nathan Wolf and Connor Komarek gained honorable mention all-Marawood North Conference this season. Wolf averaged 5.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game while Komarek averaged 6.9 points, three rebounds and 1.6 assists per game in conference games.
Komarek was also awarded to the Marawood North Conference all-defense team along with Deitz, Belan, Rib Lake junior Andrew Wudi, Abbotsford junior Blake Bargender and Prentice senior Ty Heikkinen.
Athens head coach Jeramie Penney was awarded Marawood North Conference Coach of the Year and Marathon head coach Adam Jacobson was awarded Marawood South Conference Coach of the Year.
Stratford senior guard Ashtyn Wrensch was awarded first team all-Marawood South Conference this season. Wrensch averaged 15.9 points, four rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game for the Tigers in conference play. Newman Catholic senior guard Isaac Seidel and Auburndale senior guard Alex Willfahrt join Prey, Warren and Wrensch as first team allconference players.
Marathon senior Drew Love and junior Tyler Underwood received second team all-Marawood Conference South honors. Love averaged 8.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and nearly one steal per game while Underwood averaged 10.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and nearly one steal per game during the conference schedule.
Auburndale senior Lucas Yeske, Wisconsin Rapids Assumption senior Ryan Shaw and Auburndale junior Caden Weinfurter join Love and Underwood as second team all-conference players.
Edgar juniors Brett Baumgartner and Teegan Streit gained honorable mention all-Marawood Conference South this season. Baumgartner averaged 13.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and Streit averaged 9.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.7 steals and nearly one block per game during the conference schedule.
Marathon senior Mason Seehafer and junior Cooper Hoeksema received honorable mention all-Marawood Conference South. Seehafer averaged seven points, four rebounds, 1.9 assists and nearly one steal per game while Hoeksema averaged 8.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game in conference play.
Stratford senior Braeden Schueller and junior Brady Schmidt gained honorable mention all-Marawood Conference South this season. Schueller averaged 9.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while Schmidt averaged 10.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game during the conference schedule.
Edgar sophomore Leyton Schuett, Underwood of Marathon and Stratford senior Johnny Seitz join Prey of Newman Catholic, Auburndale senior Trayton Weber and Assumption senior Jack Wedemyer on the Marawood South Conference all-defense team this season.
Academic All-State Tigers
Stratford’s varsity boys basketball team finished first in the WBCA Division 4 academic all-state honors with a cumulative 3.861 Grade Point Average (GPA). Cumberland was second with a 3.778 GPA and Fond du Lac Saint Mary’s Springs was third with a 3.720 GPA. Team GPA’s were based on cumulative credits attempted by the top 10 varsity boys basketball players on each team as well as those players’ GPA.
