Two local varsity girls basketball players, senior Reagan Borchardt of Edgar and junior Addison Lavicka of Athens, have been awarded to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division 5 All-State team this season.

Borchardt led Edgar to a sectional final appearance with a 23-6 record. The 5-10 forward averaged 18.4 points, 12 rebounds, 2.3 steals and three blocks per game for coach Tom McCarty and the Wildcats. Borchardt helped Edgar to a 56-24 record over her final three seasons. She earned honorable mention All-State last season.

Lavicka helped lead Athens, 23-4, to a regional final appearance. The guard averaged 15.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.2 steals per game for coach Kyncaide Keefe and the Bluejays. Lavicka will enter her senior year with 934 career points. She helped Athens to a 45-9 record the last two seasons.

Sophomore guard Sarah Shaw of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption was the third Marawood Conference player to be awarded to the WBCA Division 5 All-State squad. Athens junior Sophia Coker and Assumption sophomore Anna Schooley received Division 5 honorable mention all-state this season.

South all-conference girls

Seniors Reagan Borchardt, Lauren Kraus of Stratford, Kali Prihoda of Marathon and Annamarie Aue of Aubundale are unanimous selections onto the Marawood South Conference first team this season. Senior Sidney Galang of Newman Catholic also made the first team.

Kraus averaged 11.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.1 blocks per game during the conference regular season. Prihoda averaged 10.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game in conference play.

Edgar junior Makayla Wirkus and Marathon senior Ashley Phakitthong made second team all-Marawood South Conference this season. Wirkus averaged 8.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 3.5 steals per game in the conference this season. Phakitthong averaged 11.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game in con- ference play this season. Senior Ashlyn Grimm of Auburndale and sophomore Anna Schooley of Assumption also made second team all-conference.

The following are players who received honorable mention in the Marawood South Conference this season: Senior Cristin Casey and sophomore Kendall Duellman of Assumption, seniors Josie Ertl and Gracie Krings of Auburndale, seniors Leah Davis and Morgan Schnelle of Edgar, seniors Hannah Baldeshwiler and Chloe LaValley of Marathon, senior Maggie Wulf and sophomore Lily Shields of Newman Catholic and seniors Bailey Linzmaier and Lexie Christopherson of Stratford.

Six players made the Marawood South Conference all-defensive team this season consisting of Assumption sophomore Addi Vollert, Auburndale senior Lily Hasenohrl, Wirkus, Prihoda, Shields and Stratford senior Ella Heidmann.

Aue was awarded the Marawood South Conference Player of the Year and Tom McCarty of Edgar is the conference Coach of the Year.

North all-conference girls

Underclassmen dominate the first team Marawood Conference North selections this season. Athens junior Addison Lavicka is an unanimous all-Marawood Conference North first team player this season along with fellow juniors Kacy Eggebrecht of Phillips and Sydney Falteisak of Abbotsford along with sophomore Kali Heikkinen of Prentice. Athens junior Sofia Coker and Phillips sophomore Mataya Eckert also made first team all-conference this season. Sophia Coker averaged 15.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.4 steals per game in the conference season. Athens junior Jazelle Hartwig made second team all-Marawood North Conference this season along with fellow juniors Sommer Brodhagen of Abbotsford, Brooke Eckert of Phillips and Josie Scheithauer of Rib Lake. Hartwig averaged 14.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, two assists and 4.9 steals per game in conference play this season.

The following are players who received honorable mention in the Marawood North Conference this season: Senior Adriana Fuentes and junior Briseida Escalara of Abbotsford, senior Celina Ellenbecker and junior Sydney Coker of Athens, senior Solita Kaster and junior Elsa Schluter of Phillips, senior Lelia Heikkinen and junior Leah Nehls of Prentice and senior Kamryn Annala and freshman Avery Niemi of Rib Lake.

Six players made the Marawood North Conference all-defensive team this season consisting of Abbotsford senior Brissa Diaz, Hartwig, Eggebrecht, Annala and Prentice senior Carissa Harding. Eggebrecht is the Marawood North Conference Player of the Year.
