Athens senior Aiden Janke on Tuesday joined his former varsity boys basketball teammates, Cooper Diedrich and Cameron Ford, on the school’s all-time boys 1,000-point scorers. Janke was a freshman on the Bluejays varsity squad when his first cousin, Ford, was a senior.

Janke grabbed an offensive rebound in the second half of Tuesday’s away game against Abbotsford and he scored a basket to give him 1,000 career points.

The Athens boys basketball program gave Janke a commemorative basketball so he will always remember his career accomplishment. Janke achieved a doubledouble with 16 points and 13 rebounds in Athens’ 7357 Marawood North Conference victory against Abbotsford.

The Bluejays received balanced scoring with four players achieving doubledigit scoring against the Falcons. Senior guard Connor Sheahan led Athens with 17 points. Junior Andy Schaer added 14 points while senior Connor Komarek added 12. Senior Nathan Wolf contributed eight points and he led the team with four assists.
