Ormond is two-way HM all-state star

Stratford senior outside linebacker John Seitz III was the leader of his team’s formidable defense that held its five WIAA Division 6 playoff opponents to a total of only 35 points and 657 yards this season. Seitz III was rewarded for his great individual defensive season by garnering 2022 Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) Small School first team allstate as an outside linebacker.

Seitz III and his teammates helped Stratford beat Mondovi, 32-14, in the WIAA Division 6 state championship game to capture the school’s eighth state title. Stratford now has the second most football state titles in WIAA history, behind only St. Mary’s Springs Academy of Fond du Lac with nine.

Seitz III compiled 114 tackles, including 20 tackles for loss, while playing in all 14 games for the Tigers this season. He also had 2-1/2 sacks while forcing a fumble and recovering a fumble. Seitz III is the only football player in The Record-Review’s coverage area of Athens, Edgar, Marathon and Stratford to receive first team all-state recognition this season.

Seitz III was also awarded to the WFCA Region 2 Small football team as a defensive end. He was an unanimous Central Wisconsin (CWC)-Large first team linebacker who was named the conference’s defensive player of the year. Seitz II also was a first team allconference offensive lineman.

Ormond HM on both sides

Stratford senior Jackson Ormond garnered 2022 WFCA Small School honorable mention all-state both on the offensive line and at defensive end this season. He compiled 73 tackles, including 16 tackles for loss. He also had four sacks, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

Ormond was awarded to the WFCA Region 2 Small team on the offensive line and at defensive end. He was an unanimous CWC-Large first team offensive lineman. He also was a first team all-conference defensive lineman.

Butt HM all-state defense

Edgar junior inside linebacker Karter Butt garnered 2022 WFCA small school honorable mention. He compiled 123 tackles, including 18 tackles for loss while playing all 12 games for the Wildcats this season. Butt also forced four fumbles and he recovered one fumble.

Butt was also awarded to the WFCA Region 2 Small team at both inside linebacker and offensive back. He had 180 rushing attempts for 1,344 yards, 21 touchdowns and four twopoint conversions. Butt averaged 7-1/2 yards per rush attempt and 112 rushing yards per game this season. He received unanimous all-Marawood Conference first team in the backfield and he was also a first team all-conference inside linebacker.

The Record-Review’s coverage area, including the three mentioned above, were named to the 2022 WFCA Region 2 Small team: Edgar junior Harrison Graveen on the offensive line, Stratford junior Koehler Kilty as an offensive back, Edgar senior Brady Stencil as a defensive lineman, Edgar senior Carver Higgins as a defensive end, Marathon senior Drew Love as an outside linebacker, Stratford senior Ashton Wrensch as a defensive back and Stratford senior Braeden Schueller as a punter.

Graveen was also an unanimous Marawood Conference first team offensive lineman this season. Kilty had 301 rushing attempts for 1,877 yards and 21 touchdowns while playing in all 14 of Stratford’s games this season. He averaged 6.2 yards per rushing attempt and 134.1 yards per game. Kilty was awarded to the CWC-Large first team at both running back and linebacker this year. Stencil recorded 72 tackles, including 12 tackles for loss, this season. He also compiled one sack, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one fumble return for a touchdown in 12 games this season. Stencil was awarded to the Marawood Conference first team on both the offensive and defensive lines. Higgins had 57 tackles, including 16 tackles for loss, this year. He also had three sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Higgins was an unanimous first team Marawood Conference defensive end.

Love compiled 42 tackles, including 12 tackles for loss, this season. He also recorded nine sacks and an interception. Love was a first team Marawood Conference outside linebacker and a second team all-conference offensive lineman. Wrensch had 69 tackles, including five tackles for loss, this year. He also had two forced fumbles and four interceptions. Wrensch was an unanimous first team CWC-Large defensive back and all-conference second team wide receiver.

Schueller punted the football 20 times for 757 yards, an average of 37.8 yards per punt this season. He punted the football eight times inside the 20yard line. He was an unanimous first team CWC-Large punter and an allconference second team quarterback.

All-region 8 man football

Athens senior Aiden Janke garnered 2022 WFCA all-Region 8-man North as a tight end/fullback this season. He was a dangerous dual-threat athlete on offense for the Bluejays this year. Janke had 21 receptions for 442 yards and nine touchdowns in seven games. He also rushed 81 times for 475 yards, four touchdowns and eight successful two-point conversion attempts.

Janke garnered 2022 Central Wisconsin Conference East Division first team honors at both WR/TE and defensive line this season. He also received honorable mention all-conference as a punter.

Rest of the best

The remaining local football players, who were not mentioned above, were awarded first team Marawood Conference this year: Edgar sophomore Leyton Schuett as a receiver, Edgar junior Brett Baumgartner as a fullback/tight end, Marathon senior Matt Annis in the backfield, Edgar junior Kohlbe Weisenberger as an outside linebacker and Edgar junior Teagan Streit as a defensive back.

Football players receiving second team Marawood Conference honors are Marathon junior Cooper Hoeksema at quarterback, Marathon junior Tyler Underwood at receiver, Marathon junior Payton Lawrence on the offensive line, Edgar sophomore Jase Apfelbeck as an outside linebacker and Marathon senior Mason Seehafer as a defensive back.

The following players received honorable mention Marawood Conference: Edgar senior defensive backs Avery Normington and Keghan Hartway, Edgar senior linebacker Justin Davis, Edgar sophomore offensive lineman Fletcher Weiland, Marathon senior wide receiver Daniel LaQua, Marathon senior inside linebacker Hector Pintor, Marathon senior defensive lineman Logan Werner and Marathon junior defensive end Ethan Hale.

Stratford football players receiving second team CWC-Large this season are senior Kash Dahl as an offensive lineman, senior Connor Weigel as a defensive back and senior Ryan Becker as a linebacker. Tigers garnering honorable mention CWC-Large are senior Izaiah Hadlock as an offensive lineman, Weigel as a running back, junior Payton Glenn as a defensive back and Dahl as a defensive lineman.

Athens senior Kyler Ellenbecker was awarded second team CWC-Large as both a running back and linebacker this season. Bluejays freshman Kamden Zarnke received honorable mention all-conference as a defensive back.
