Stratford football rolls over Cadott
Edgar also advances in the playoffs

Stratford senior quarterback Braeden Schueller was involved in four of the team’s five touchdowns during Friday’s 42-0 WIAA Division 5 Level 2 home playoff football game against Cadott at Marshfield Senior High School.
Schueller completed eight of 16 passes for 247 yards and four touchdowns and he ran the football seven times for 52 yards and one touchdown. He threw three touchdown passes consisting of 10, 18 and 76 yards to senior Ashton Wrensch. Schueller also tossed an 86-yard bomb to junior Gavin Leonhardt.
Wrensch finished the game with four receptions for 99 yards, for a 24.8 average per catch, and his three receiving touchdowns. Leonhardt also returned a punt 47 yards for a touchdown. Junior Koehler Kilty ran the football 14 times for 40 yards. Stratford senior linebacker John Seitz III led the team’s defense with 12 tackles. Senior Evan Danielson made all five of his extra point kicks.
Stratford improves its record to 8-21 this season while Cadott concludes its season with a 7-4 record. Stratford next plays at 7 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 4, at Division 5 No. 1 seed Grantsburg in a WIAA Level 3 playoff game.
Grantsburg beat Lakeland Conference rival Unity, 35-21, on Friday to advance to Level 3 of the playoffs. The Pirates have a 10-2 record this season.
Wildcats survive
Edgar’s varsity football squad edged Spring Valley, 15-8, in Friday’s WIAA Division 7 Level 2 home playoff football game.
Junior running back Karter Butt scored both of Edgar’s touchdowns. He ran the football for a four-yard touchdown in the second quarter and he also rushed for the two-point conversion to give the Wildcats an 8-0 lead at halftime. Butt rushed for a 14-yard touchdown in the third quarter, and junior Harrison Graveen’s extra point kick gave Edgar a 15-8 advantage.
Edgar’s defense held Spring Valley scoreless in the fourth quarter. Senior Avery Normington and junior Teegan Streit had one interception apiece for the Wildcats’ defense. Edgar next plays at 7 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 4, against No. 1 seed Eau Claire Regis at Carson Park in Eau Claire.
The Wildcats enter this Friday’s WIAA Level 3 playoff football contest with a 10-1 record while Regis is undefeated at 11-0 this season. The Ramblers are currently rolling with star senior running back Zander Rockow back from injury this season. Rockow will play for the Division 1 Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Big Ten next fall.
