Knights runners are maturing at right time

In the last regular season cross country meet for the Cornell-Lake Holcombe program, the Knights headed to the Rock Rally grounds for the conference championship at Flambeau Oct. 11.
“It was a good meet,” said coach Greg “Cookie” Anderson.
Improving their times and paces, were varsity freshman runners Alex Dixon, on the boys side of things, with 39th place and a time of 21:37.4, while Emma Wright placed 27th for the girls (25:26.9).
Anderson says the two ran exceptionally well, with a good tempo and pacing.
“They probably ran their best times of the year,” said Anderson.
The Knights will now prepare for Sectional competition at Cadott, Oct. 22, which will be an advantage for the team, as they ran there earlier in the year. Anderson said as Dixon and Wright are maturing as runners, they’re learning how to expend their energy at the right time.
“It’s not just running, it’s knowing how and when to pour it on.”
