Rockets host Frey Field invitational
The Spencer cross country team competed on its home course at Frey Field on Sept. 22. Having only a full boys team, the Rockets saw improvements to their time at the meet, which had several teams from outside the Cloverbelt competing.
In the girls race, four runners represented Spencer. Rachel Nieman was the first runner to finish among them, taking 35th in the 70-runner field with a time of 24:33.40. Zaprina Bulla Ruiz ran through the finish a few minutes later at the 26:30.2 mark, taking 47th. Placing 54th was Theresa Knecht, who ran a 27:26.1 and Kaydence Plaskey ran a 27:44.5 to finish in 56th.
The boys team ran in a 75-runner field at the home meet. Malachai Anderson was the first Spencer runner to finish, placing 36th with his time of 20:58. Breckin Miller came through next, taking 40th with a time of 21:17.3. Isaac Howlett finished the race in 22:11.10 to place 47th overall and Noah Anderson and Andrew Sieracki placed 58th and 59th respectively, with Anderson running a 23:00.6 and Sieracki finishing in 23:33.5. Henry Glamm also placed for the Rockets, taking 74th with his time of 29:03.3.
The Spencer boys earned 204 points at the meet to take eighth overall. Also placing at Spencer’s home invite were Neillsville-Granton (184), Columbus Catholic (145), Stanley-Boyd (93), Colby-Abbotsford (90), Rib Lake/ Prentice (85), Marshfield (67) and Chequamegon (63) In the girls race, only four complete teams competed and placed. They were Abbotsford (110), Chequamegon (58), Colby (45) and Marshfield (32).
