The Loyal-Greenwood runners had to face some late September heat as they competed on Sept. 20 in Cadott. The runners persevered through the warm weather conditions to finish their races, albeit with slightly slower times.

The Greyhound girls had eight runners compete at Cadott, and their efforts as a team led to a sixth-place finish. In the 104-runner field, Summer Smith placed 15th overall, running a 23:50.5 to do so. Behind her was Addison Holm, who ran a 25:21.1 to take 35th, and Bailey Eckes, who finished in 38th place with a time of 25:30.2.

Coming through in the 48th place spot was Katlund Etlicher, who ran a 26:10.8 on the 5,000-meter course. Leah Scherer followed, coming through the finish in 26:36.7 to take 53rd. Just a short time later, Halle Aumann crossed the finish line, taking 54th with her time of 26:50.6. Also finishing for the Loyal-Greenwood girls were Aubre Robida (60th, 27:36) and Alexis Meyer (74th, 29:50).

The trio of Loyal-Greenwood boys faced a much larger field of competition, with 143 runners on the course. Running to a third-place finish overall was Connor Genteman, who crossed the finish line at the 18:08.1 mark. Cody Eckes placed 53rd with a time of 21:54.8 and Lucas Nielsen was the 100th runner to complete the race, running a 24:09.5.

The Loyal-Greenwood girls earned 141 points to take sixth place out of the 12 teams at the Cadott Invite. Other teams competing in the girls races were Durand (87), Fall Creek (96), Cadott (109), Eau Claire Regis (109), Cameron (113), Unity (170), Augusta (177), Boyceville (188), Thorp (193), Glenwood City (278) and McDonell Central (304).

Thirteen teams competed and placed in the boys race. They were McDonell Central (58), Glenwood City (114), Unity (128), Fall Creek (152), Stanley-Boyd (157), Cameron (163), Cadott (179), Spring Valley (191), Clear Lake (205), Immanuel Lutheran (208), Augusta (224), Boyceville (320) and New Auburn (397).
