Post 469 off to 7-1 start
The Marathon American Legion Post 469 baseball team has only lost one game, a 6-4 setback against Abbotsford, thus far this summer.
Post 469 began its 2022 season on June 9 with a 12-0 road win against Abbotsford. Pitcher Tyler Underwood had eight strikeouts. Cody Radtke batted two for four with three RBIs and Grant Warren had two RBIs. Post 469 fell, 6-4, in the nightcap to Abbotsford as Radtke suffered the pitching loss. Reed McCain doubled and had two RBIs, while Derek Vesely also collected a pair of RBIs.
Marathon swept Tomahawk, 10-0 and 13-3, on June 10 at home. Pitcher Jaden Koeller had nine strikeouts in the team’s 10-0 win. Radtke batted three for three with two RBIs, Underwood was two for three with two RBIs and Pierson Hamann was three for four with a double.
Hector Pintor was the winning pitcher in the team’s 13-3 victory. Jorey Kunkel, Grant Warren, Underwood and Radtke each collected two RBIs.
Post 469 also swept Medford Jr. Legion, 13-0 and 14-4, on the road Thursday. Underwood struck out 10 hitters to earn the pitching win in the team’s 13-0 victory. Daniel LaQua, Pintor and Underwood collected two RBIs each. Radtke was the winning pitcher in the 14-4 victory. Drew Woelfel hit three for four with three RBIs, while Clayton Marcott and Kunkel had two RBIs apiece.
Marathon swept RSW Jr. Legion, 10-0 and 6-2, on Friday at home. Koeller had 10 strikeouts to earn the pitching win in the team’s 10-0 victory. Grant Warren had three RBIs and Underwood added two RBIs. Pintor was the winning pitcher in the team’s 6-2 victory. Underwood batted three for three.
