The Loyal girls track and field team is back at the top this week with another win for the team after competition in Spencer on May 10. The Greyhound girls showed their strengths in relays and field events at the invite, with numerous first-place finishes among the individual athletes.

Three relay teams competed for the Loyal girls at Spencer, all taking first place. Running the 4x100m relay in 52.32 was Leah Scherer, Sheila Tellock, Alyssia Zvolena and Aubre Robida. The 4x200m relay was completed in 1:54.09 by Molly Zvolena, Sheila Tellock, Haven Peroshek and Leah Scherer. Abrial Kubista, Noelle Teschner, Autumn Zvolena and Sheila Tellock ran the 4x400m relay, taking their win in the race with a time of 4:31.33.

The Loyal boys team also had a few individuals place on May 10. Connor Genteman took second place in the 800m run with a time of 2:12.96 and third in the 1600m run by running just under five minutes (4:59.11). Parker Smith placed in three events, taking third in the triple jump (33’11.5”), fourth in the 300m hurdles (48.88) and seventh in the high jump (4’8”). Taking seventh in the high jump (4’8”) was Peyton Tsai, and Jaden Smith took eighth in the shot put with a throw of 33’6.25”.

While competing at their home invitational, the Spencer boys placed third overall. Sprinting was the team’s strength at the invite, with individuals and relay teams taking placings in most of those events. The 4x200m relay, ran by Kaizer Eikleberry, Landon Behselich, Alexander Baumgarten and Malachai Anderson, took second with a time of 1:42.57. Levi Anderson, Malachai Anderson, Kaizer Eikleberry and Noah Schultz ran the 4x400m relay in 4:13.8 to finish in third.

Individual results for the Spencer boys are as follows: Kyle Nieman, 1st, pole vault, 11’, 3rd, 110m hurdles, 17.67, 5th, 300m hurdles, 49.39; Alexander Baumgarten, 2nd, pole vault, 10’, 6th, 200m dash, 25.56; Levi Anderson, 3rd, high jump, 5’2”, 8th, 400m dash, 57.12; Noah Schultz, 3rd, 400m dash, 55.47, 6th, 80m run, 2:30.69; Landon Behselich, 4th, 100m dash, 11.81, 7th, 200m dash, 25.72; Breckin Miller, 5th, pole vault, 8’6”; Niklas Pohl, 7th, 100m dash, 12.36, 8th, 200m dash, 25.97; Tim Yorgey, 8th, 1600m run, 5:49.06.

For the Spencer girls, Emily Wehrman was the only individual to place, while two relay teams also scored points for the girls. Wehrman took first in the 1600m run with a time of 6:40.64 and second in the 800m run with a time of 2:56.82. For relay teams, Sabrina Alessio, Daniela Guzman Pallares, Aurora Porcu and Hannah Reckner completed the 4x200m in 2:19.96 to take sixth. The 4x400m relay team of Emily Wehrman, Leah Zastrow, Hannah Reckner and Caitlin Clark finished in fourth place with a time of 5:06.25.

Both the girls and boys teams had several individuals and relay teams compete for them, with both teams placing about mid-pack overall. For the girls team, two relay teams placed. The 4x200m relay was completed by Bria Thomas, Ricarda Goetze, Ella Reimer and Alyseah Anderson in 2:12.41 to place fifth. Lauren Ingold, Sarah Reiff, Ella Reimer and Candela Soto ran the 4x100m in 1:03.61 to place sixth.

Individual results for the Greenwood girls are as follows: Katlund Etlicher, 2nd, 1600m run, 7:14.52; Kia Abel, 3rd, 300m hurdles, 54.13, 4th, 100m hurdles, 18.91; Lauren Ingold, 5th, shot put, 31’.5”; Kayla Grambsch, 6th, long jump, 13’5”; Bria Thomas, 6th, 100m hurdles, 20.85, 7th, 300m hurdles, 1:02.65.

For the Greenwood boys, two relay teams competed, with one of the teams placing first. Winning the 4x800m relay was the team of Andy Mitchell, Avrey Horvath, Hunter Ellis and Cody Eckes, which ran the course in 11:28.72 for the win. Placing fourth was the 4x200m relay team (1:49.01) of Christian Thomas, Angel Anderson, Hunter Ellis and Ashtin Palms.

Individual results for the Greenwood boys are as follows: Ashtin Palms, 1st, 300m hurdles, 43.84; Christian Thomas, 2nd, long jump, 15’9.25”, 4th, 110m hurdles, 19.81, 6th, 300m hurdles, 50.82; Avrey Horvath, 3rd, 3200m run, 11:04.98, 5th, 1600m run, 5:05.39; Angel Anderson, 5th, long jump, 15’9.25”; Cody Eckes, 8th, long jump, 14’9”.

The Loyal girls earned 189 points to place first as a team at Spencer. Also competing at the invite were Neillsville (132.5), Gilman (75), Auburndale (66.5), Greenwood, which placed fifth with 45 points, Columbus Catholic (30), Spencer, which took seventh with 28 points, and Thorp (25).

For the boys, Spencer took third place with 84.5 points, beating Greenwood, which placed fourth with 57 points, Columbus Catholic (38), Loyal, which took sixth with 31 points, Thorp (29.5) and Gilman (28). Auburndale was second (146) and Neillsville took first (199).
