‘Cats want more state trophies
Edgar boys won silver last season
Edgar’s varsity boys track and field team enjoyed a magical season last year by winning the silver WIAA Division 3 state runner-up trophy in La Crosse. Wildcats alum Greg Streit, now in his 10th season as the boys and girls head coach and 16th season overall coaching at the school, is excited to discover what his squads can accomplish in 2022.
“We are going to do what we have always done which is to work hard and have fun,” Streit said. “We had a special season last year and we will work to get back there. We are going to have to find some kids who surprise us, but the beauty of this sport is there are surprises in different events every year. I like the makeup of our boy and girl squads and am excited to watch them compete. We have some great senior and junior leaders who are going to help the team compete and improve.”
The following are coach Streit’s top senior boys track and field athletes back this season: hurdler Owen Baumann, throwers Parker Schuette and Jace Kohel, Ayden Weisenberger and Everet Brehm and Mattison Butt, who competes in the long and triple jumps and relays.
