Loyal adds win at Rosholt to season resumé
The Loyal girls track and field team is continuing its winning streak this week with another first place finish as a team at an invitational held in Rosholt on April 22. The Greyhound girls continued to show improvement in their times while putting up several top placings among their team members.
Three relay teams scored for the Loyal girls at Rosholt. Taking first place with a time of 54.50 was the 4x100m relay team of Leah Scherer, Sheila Tellock, Alyssia Zvolena and Aubre Robida. Scherer, Tellock and Zvolena joined Haven Peroshek on the 4x200m relay, taking second place with a time of 1:56.94. The 4x400m relay team of Tellock, Abrial Kubista, Molly Zvolena and Noelle Teschner finished in third place with a time of 4:44.15.
Individual results for the Loyal girls are as follows: Sheila Tellock, 1st, pole vault, 8’6”; Aubre Robida, 2nd, 100m dash, 13.78, 3rd, 200m dash, 29.39; Alyssia Zvolena, 2nd, high jump, 4’2”, 5th, 100m dash, 14.26; Leah Scherer, 2nd, 200m dash, 28.55, 7th, long jump, 12’7.75”; Olivia Nikolai, 2nd, pole vault, 7’6”; Shalisha Buchanan, 2nd, shot put, 31’11”; Abrial Kubista, 4th, 300m hurdles, 54.79, 5th, 100m hurdles, 19.21; Devani Hinkelmann, 4th, discus, 81’11”; Molly Zvolena, 5th, triple jump, 29’8”; Autumn Zvolena, 6th, high jump, 4’2”; Noelle Teschner, 7th, 400m dash, 1:12.88; Haven Peroshek, 8th, shot put, 27’5.75”.
The Loyal boys had only two individuals place at Rosholt. Connor Genteman took second in two events, running a 2:13.41 in the 800m run and 5:02.61 in the 1600m run to earn the placings. Parker Smith ran a 59.93 in the 400m dash to take sixth.
As a team, the Loyal girls earned 118.5 to take first place. Also competing on April 22 were Wittenberg-Birnamwood (108.5), Suring (99), St. Mary Catholic (92), Rosholt (71), Lena/St. Thomas Academy (55), Wild Rose (49), Pacelli (37), and Wautoma (32). The Loyal boys earned 19 points to take ninth ahead of Almond-Bancroft (8). Wautoma was eighth (58.5), Wittenberg-Birnamwood was seventh (63), Suring was sixth (70), Rosholt finished fifth (70.33), Wild Rose was fourth (80), St. Mary Catholic took third (83), Lena/St. Thomas Academy was second (92.83) and Pacelli finished in first (106.33).
