With many strong individual finishes by the Loyal girls track and field team, the Greyhounds took first place at the Medford Early Bird invite held on April 19. The Greyhound girls had two relay teams and two individuals take first place in their respective events at the invite while many others scored in the top eight.

Alyssia Zvolena and Abrial Kubista were the two individuals who won their events at Medford. Zvolena leapt to a height of 5’ to take first in her event while Kubista finished the 300m hurdles in 52.70 to win hers. Kubista also placed second in the triple jump (33’6”) and fourth in the 100m hurdles (19.25).

Other individual results for the Loyal girls are as follows: Sheila Tellock, 2nd, pole vault, 8’; Aubre Robida, 2nd, 100m dash, 13.56, 3rd, 200m dash, 28.42; Leah Scherer, 2nd, 200m dash, 28.21, 4th, long jump, 13’7.5”; Shalisha Buchanan, 2nd, shot put, 32’1.75”, 7th, discus, 79’7”; Olivia Nikolai, 3rd, pole vault, 8’; Lisa Steffens, 3rd, long jump, 13’10.25”; Autumn Zvolena, 4th, high jump, 4’6”, 7th, 300m hurdles, 58.85; Emma Clausen Skjong, 5th, 100m hurdles, 20.25; Noelle Teschner, 5th, 400m dash, 1:11.96; Hope Peroshek, 6th, discus, 80’8”; Maci Bogdonovich, 6th, 800m run, 3:05.12; Molly Zvolena, 8th, triple jump, 29’2.25”, 8th, 400m dash, 1:15.90; Haven Peroshek, 8th, shot put, 29’4.5”.

The Loyal girls also had three relay teams place at Medford, two of which placed first. The 4x200m relay team of Leah Scherer, Sheila Tellock, Lisa Steffens and Alyssia Zvolena won their race with a time of 1:52.27 while the 4x100m relay team of Scherer, Tellock, Zvolena and Aubre Robida also placed first with a time of 53.14. Abrial Kubista, Tellock, Steffens and Zvolena ran the 4x400m relay, taking second with a time of 4:40.60.

The Loyal boys also had a few individuals and a relay team score points at the invite. The 4x400m relay team of Connor Genteman, Ayden Collins, Bo Bogdonovich and Parker Smith ran a 4:13.53 to take sixth place.

Individual results for the Loyal boys are as follows: Connor Genteman, 3rd, 1600m run, 5:01.90, 5th, 800m run, 2:20.99; Parker Smith, 5th, 400m dash, 58.75, 8th, high jump, 4’8”; Bo Bogdonovich, 7th, 400m dash, 1:01; Peyton Tsai, 8th, high jump, 4’8”.

The Spencer track team also went up to Medford on April 19 to compete. Only a few individuals from the boys and girls team were able to place within the top eight. For the Rocket boys, one relay team competed. Malachai Anderson, Levi Anderson, Noah Schultz and Alexander Baumgarten participated in the 4x400m relay, finishing in fourth place with a time of 4:00.69.

Individual results for the Spencer boys and girls are as follows: Kyle Nieman, 1st, 110m hurdles, 18.21, 3rd, 300m hurdles, 51.04, 6th, pole vault, 8’6”; Levi Anderson, 3rd, high jump, 5’; Noah Schultz, 3rd, 400m dash, 56.12; Emily Wehrman, 5th, 800m run, 3:03.94; Landon Behselich, 7th, 200m dash, 26.25.

The Loyal girls earned 146 points to win at Medford. Other teams competing were Medford (119), Bloomer (114), Stratford (96), Abbotsford (86.5), Northland Pines (53.5), Athens (43) and Spencer, which placed eighth with four points. For the boys, Loyal finished eighth with 24 points, finishing behind Spencer which placed seventh with 46 points. Abbotsford was sixth (55), Athens took fifth (62), Bloomer was fourth (74) Northland Pines was third (124.5), Stratford finished second (126) and Medford took first (135.5).
