Granton track and field team competes at indoor Neillsville invite
The Granton track and field team got its first chance back on the track on April 14 after practicing for the past couple weeks. Like many other local teams, the weather has prevented any outdoor invites from being held, the Neillsville Meurett Invitational being held indoors instead this year.
The Bulldog girls had one first-place finisher at the invite on April 14. Faustina Thomas won the triple jump event with her leap of 29’7.25”. She also took ninth in the long jump with a leap of 13’4.5”.
Other individual results for the Granton track and field team are as follows: Alexis Pongratz, 8th, triple jump, 23’3”; Anna Kayhart, 10th 45m hurdles, 9.25”; Wyatt Karl, 14th, shot put, 32’5”; Lizzy Reinart, 17th, 45m dash, 7.56, 19th, shot put, 20’5.5”; Dolorosa Thomas, 17th, long jump, 12’7.75”; Maya McConkey, 18th, long jump, 12’5.25”; Alex Gardner, 19th, 45m dash, 6.28, 22nd, long jump, 12’8”; Laura Vine, 22nd, shot put, 19’10.5”; Tori Seif, 23rd, shot put, 19’1.5”.
The Granton girls also had one relay team compete at Neillsville, which finished in eighth place. Maya McConkey, Lizzy Reinart, Alexis Pongratz and Anna Kayhart ran the 1-1-2-3 Sprint medley event in 2:30.7 to earn their placing.
The Granton girls earned 11 points to take seventh, finishing ahead of Thorp (7) and Cadott (5). Owen-Withee was sixth (25.5), Gilman was fifth (52), Cadott took fourth (56), Stanley-Boyd finished third (61.5), Neillsville took second (65) and Fall Creek was first (138). For the boys, Granton earned three points to finish in eighth. Also placing were Thorp (7), Gilman (12), Cadott (34.5), Stanley-Boyd (70.5), Owen-Withee (85.5) Neillsville (87) and Fall Creek (120.5)
