A sunny, but breezy day for the opening game of softball for Cornell-Lake Holcombe, saw a tough Prairie Farm team come to call at Mill Yard Park. The April 11, conference match-up started out in favor of the Knights, who took a nice lead into the third inning.

But, Prairie Farm’s offense came alive that inning and the Knights quickly lost their lead.

“We went back-and-forth all game with them,” said coach Andy Lorenzen. “They ended up making more plays than us and stringing more productive at bats than us.”

The Knights couldn’t rally and the game went to the Panthers, 15-8.

“We were unable to make the plays when we had to and made a lot of first game mistakes,” said Lorenzen. “Hopefully, we can correct the little things and start to string some wins together.”
