Rib Lake’s Olivia Lopez nearly won the triple jump, while Medford scored in three relays and got nine individual points from Jaylin Machon during Thursday’s Marshfield Girls Indoor Invitational.

The Raiders, who took a bit of a skeleton crew due to the school’s band and choir trips, finished 10th out of 16 teams with 27 points, while Rib Lake’s girls, competing for the first time this spring, finished 14th with 15.5.

Lopez was responsible for nine of those points for Rib Lake. The sophomore got eight of them with a distance of 30 feet, 11.5 inches in the triple jump to place second out of 12 jumpers who got in a legal jump. Only Stratford’s Jaidyn Wright went farther at 31-5. Lopez added an eighth-place finish in the 60-yard hurdles at 10.73 seconds, just ahead of teammate Tia Bube (10.9). Machon scored four points for Medford with a fifth-place time of 10.42 seconds. Marshfield’s Lizzie Hanson won the event in 9.42 seconds. Lopez also led local long jumpers by finishing 11th out of 33 jumpers at 13-4.75.

Machon scored five more points by clearing 8 feet in the pole vault, good for fourth place behind Marshfield’s Sophie Nikolay (10-0), Colby’s Willow Oehmichen (8-6) and Pittsville’s Sara Lacoursiere (8-6).

Medford’s Brooke Rudolph took fourth in the 880-yard run in 2:53.18, while Rib Lake’s Kylee Goodrich got the eighthplace point at 3:07.78 and Rib Lake’s Amy Espinoza was 13th in 3:24.22. Pittsville’s Reece Grimm won in 2:46.11. Raider Alyssa Brandner took fifth in the 440-meter dash at 1:09.93 with Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Reese Rogowski winning in 1:04.87. Goodrich also took eighth in the mile run at 6:44.18. Stratford’s Kayla Casperson won that in 5:59.48.

Rib Lake’s Megan Yanko added 2.5 individual points by tying Stevens Point’s Pamela Domres for sixth in the 60-yard dash at 8.09 seconds. Rogowski won that as well in 7.17 seconds.

The rest of Medford’s and Rib Lake’s scoring came in relays.

In the four-lap race, Machon, Kenya Mann, Riley Clark and Brenley Beran earned the fifth-place points with a time of 1:33.5, while Rib Lake’s Megan Yanko, Ryanna Schrader, Lopez and Amber Yanko fell one spot shy of scoring while taking ninth in 1:35.32. In the eight-lap event, Rib Lake’s Megan Yanko, Schrader, Bube and Amber Yanko finished in seventh place at 3:33.85, just ahead of Medford’s team of Hannah Fleegel, Ashley Hernandez, Letizi Baldi and Beran which came in at 3:41.3.

The Raiders’ team of Brandner, Rudolph, Hernandez and Clark finished the meet by taking fifth in the mile relay at 5:10.96.

Colby won the mile relay in 4:42.2, Marshfield won the eight-lap race in 3:13.2 and Colby won the four-lap relay in 1:29.42.

Rib Lake also got a ninth-place throw of 28-8.5 from Bube in the shot put, while Hannah Schuh was 11th at 27-9.25. Megan Yanko cleared a personal-best 4-2 and took 12th in the high jump and Amber Yanko was 15th in the 60-yard dash at 8.38 seconds.

Fleegel was ninth for Medford in the triple jump at 25-2.75. Beran was 12th (11.65), while Rudolph (11.75) was 15th in the 60-yard hurdles.
