South players make all-state

Koeller and Daul are HM

Senior guard Jaden Koeller of Marathon eclipsed 1,000 career points scored this season while leading the Red Raiders to the Marawood South Conference championship. He and his Red Raiders teammate, sophomore center Grant Warren, are unanimous first team all-Marawood Conference players this season.

He scored his 1,000th career point during a road game against Rib Lake on Dec. 9, 2021. Koeller finished his Red Raiders playing career with 1,357 points, which is third most in school history; only Cody Hanke and Dennis Cramer have scored more points than Koeller did in his career.

Koeller led Marathon in points scored this season by averaging 17.2 points per game for 400 total points. He made 144 of his 308 field goal attempts for 47 percent shooting from the floor. Koeller converted 62 of his 66 free throw attempts for 94 percent from the charity stripe. He also made 80 of his 177 three-point attempts for 45 percent shooting behind the arc.

Warren led Marathon in rebounding with an average of 7.3 rebounds per game for a total of 189 rebounds this season. Warren was second on Red Raiders in scoring with an average of 15.4 points per game for a total of 400 points scored.

Both Stratford senior Camden Daul and Koeller received honorable mention all-state in Division 4 this season. Daul was also an unanimous first team all-Marawood Conference South selection, while helping lead Stratford to a WIAA Division 4 regional championship this year. Daul led Stratford in points, rebounds and steals. He averaged 16.8 points per game for a total of 453 points scored, 6.3 rebounds per game for a total of 151 and two steals per game for a total of 48. Daul was second on the Tigers in both assists, 63, and blocks, 10, this season.

Senior guards Ashton Schuett of Edgar and Caden Bruesewitz of Stratford garnered second team all-Marawood South Conference this season.

Adam Jacobson of Marathon and Curt Schmidt of Stratford shared the Marawood South Conference Coach of the Year honor.

Ashton Schuett led Edgar in both assists and steals. He averaged 3.5 assists per game for a total of 91 assists and 2.7 steals per game for a total of 71 steals. Schuett was second on the Wildcats in both scoring and rebounding, by averaging nine points per game for a total of 233 points and averaging 4.2 rebounds per game for a total of 110 rebounds. Bruesewitz led Stratford in assists this season by averaging 5.5 assists per game for a total of 133 assists.

Other players who made second team all-Marawood North Conference area are Auburndale sophomore Caden Weinfurtner and junior Alex Willfahrt and Wisconsin Rapids junior Ryan Shaw.

Players who garnered honorable mention all-Marawood South Conference this season are Wisconsin Rapids seniors Reed Duellman and Bryson Galbroath, Auburndale senior Terrance Roberson and junior Lucas Yes, Edgar senior Everet Brehm and sophomore Brett Baumgartner, Marathon seniors Ben Robbins and Nathan Hanke, Wausau Newman senior Jacob Pfiffner and junior Conner Krach and Stratford juniors Ashton Wrensch and Braeden Schueller.

The following players made the Marawood South Conference alldefensive team this season: seniors Terrance Roberson of Auburndale, Nathan Hanke of Marathon, Devin Ulrich of Stratford, Everet Brehm of Edgar, Bryson Galbreath of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption and Jacob Pfiffner of Wausau Newman.
