One car collisions
Warryck N. Leonhardt, 18, of Medford, was driving on Brucker St. which was a snow covered road, on January 1, at 7:09 p.m., when he spun out and became lodged in a snowbank. Leonhardt stated that there was prior damage to the front end. He and his family were able to remove the vehicle.
Anthony J. Olsen, 49, of Owen, was traveling south on CTH F, on December 18, at 11 p.m., in the village of Lublin. Olsen was approaching a 90 degree curve to the right when he failed to negotiate the curve and at highway speeds traveled straight off the roadway and into a private driveway. Olsen’s vehicle then struck a highline pole in the resident’s yard. Olsen’s vehicle continued traveling south through the yard and rolled and stopped on its roof at the back of the yard. Olsen left the scene. Olsen was issued four citations for driving too fast for conditions, failure of operator to notify police of accident, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and displaying unauthorized vehicle registration plate.
Roger Andrew Boehlen, 64, of Stetsonville was driving eastbound on CTH A, on December 28, at 8:02 p.m., in the town of Little Black. Boehlen drove off the road due to snowy road conditions. There was minimal damage to the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was driven from the scene.
Butch Henry Wiegel, 35, of Medford, was traveling eastbound on Oriole Dr., on December 24, at 2 p.m., in the town of Medford, when he failed to negotiate a curve and went into the east ditch. Wiegel said he was unable to make the turn due to icy road conditions and the fog which reduced visibility. The vehicle was removed from the scene by the owner.
Travis Daryl Boyd, 30, of Ellsworth, was traveling southbound on Grahl Dr., on December 25, at 9:20 a.m., in the town of Browning. Boyd was pulling a trailer, which slid on the icy road and the truck and trailer went into the ditch. The trailer landed on its roof, while the truck came to rest on the passenger side. Truck and trailer were both towed due to disabling damage.
Deputy Dylan Lindsley came upon a crash that happened on December 16, at 4:45 p.m., in the town of Pershing. Dennis G. Wood II, 31, of Sheldon, appeared to have been traveling eastbound on CTH M, when he went off the road. Wood’s vehicle went into the ditch and traveled in the ditch for a short period of time before striking a tree and fence adjacent to the roadway. The vehicle struck the tree with enough force to cause the vehicle to spin 180 degrees from the direction that it had been traveling. Wood left the scene of the accident, however Deputy Lindsley was able to contact the driver the following day. Wood said that he swerved to avoid hitting the deer and ended up in the ditch. Wood was issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
Jennifer Etsitty, 39, of Stetsonville, states that John H. Schmidt, 53, of Medford, backed into her vehicle, in a parking lot at 120 W. Broadway Ave., on December 29, at 12:48 p.m., in the city of Medford. Schmidt states that Etsitty backed into him while he was already moving forward from backing out of his parking stall.
Steven Jay Cain, 62, of Medford, was traveling southbound on Gibson St., in the city of Medford, on January 1, at 5:30 p.m., when two deer ran out in front of him. Cain swerved to avoid hitting the deer, lost control due to snow covered roads, and struck a legally parked vehicle on the side of the road, owned by Todd Michael Geiger, of Medford. Cain’s vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front passenger side corner. Cain’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Geiger’s vehicle sustained functional damage to the driver’s side rear corner and minor damage to the entire driver’s side. Vehicle was removed by a private party with a truck and trailer. Cain was issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
