The Colby Hornets football team enjoyed on of the greatest seasons in program history, going undefeated in the Marawood Conference, and capped off by winning the WIAA D-6 state title, their fourth state title in program history.

As a result of their stellar season, numerous Hornets, both players and coaches alike, picked up conference, state and regional honors.

Head coach Jim Hagen was the unanimous choice for Marawood Coach of the Year honors after guiding Colby to a 13-1 overall record and 7-0 record in league play, including three forfeits. Offensive coordinator Robbie Smazal received the honor of being voted WFCA Assistant Coach of the Year.

Senior end Andrew Jeske turned in a season for the ages. Andrew distinguished himself on both sides of the ball, and was named Marawood Lineman of the Year after earning unanimous first team offensive lineman and defensive lineman.

Andrew was further recognized as a finalist for the Tim Krumrie Award, given to the state’s top senior defensive lineman, and was WFCA All-region as a defensive end and offensive lineman. Jeske was also awarded First Team WFCA All-State honors and Second Team AP honors for his play at defensive end.

Brent Jeske also took home a plenty of postseason awards, including Marawood Back of the Year. Brent was a unanimous first team pick at both quarterback and inside linebacker. Brent was also a WFCA All-Region selection, and was a WFCA First Team All-State pick at inside linebacke. Brent was a finalist for AP Player of the Year and is a AP High Honorable Mention recipient at running back and linebacker.

Senior Brandon Voelker was a unanimous first team pick at fullback/tight end, and made second team at outside linebacker. Voelker was also a WFCA All-State Academic recipient by earning a letter, being a senior, and maintaining a GPA of 3.75 or higher.

Senior Cory Steen earned unanimous first team honors as an offensive and defensive lineman. Steen was named WFCA All-Region OL/DL, and joins Voelker as a WFCA All-State Academic honoree.

Senior Tristan Stange also turned a lot of heads in his final season in pads. Stange was awarded first team honors at three positions - offensive line, inside linebacker and punter.

Senior Mason Voss picked up a pair of postseason honors. Voss was a first team selection at both running back and outside linebacker. Junior Caden Healy also took home two first team honors, one at unning back and one at defensive back.

Junior Mateo Lopez was a unanimous first team all-conference choice at defensive back. Senior Derek Jeske made second team for offensive line, and honorable mention at defensive line. Senior Brayden Boyer was honorable mention on offensive line. Senior Brody Decker was honorable mention at wide receiver.

In all, 15 of its members Colby Hornets football team finished with some form of all-conference honors, more than any other team in the Marawood.
