Heavyn Kind’s 32 points lead Rocket girls past Granton
Led by a stellar performance from Heavyn Kind, the Spencer girls basketball team overcame the Granton Bulldogs 53-9 at a game held at the Granton High School on Nov. 23. Kind scored 32 of the Rockets’ points during the game, which was more points than the combined total of any other player on the court that night.
The Rockets were fairly consistent in their play during both halves of the game. Scoring 25 points in the first half, Kind lead the team by scoring 20 of its points, with one of those shots being a 3-pointer. Madison Knecht, Amber Becker and Emily Wehrman also scored points in the first half, with Wehrman sinking a 3-pointer. Granton was only able to score three points in the half, on a 3-point shot by Megan Walter.
Scoring in the second half of the game picked up slightly, and other Rocket players were able to rack up points to compliment the 12 points Kind would make in the same period. Jorie Meyer, Rebecca Mlsna, Jayla Krause, Claudia Krause and Sienna Sallach each contributed points to the Rockets’ score.
While Spencer scored throughout the matchup to finish with 53 points, the team also limited opportunities for the Bulldogs, holding them to just six points in the second half, for nine points in the entire game.
