Genteman, Horvath earn allconference placings for L-G runners
Two second team all-conference awards and one honorable mention award were earned by the members of the Loyal-Greenwood cross country team after competing at Fall Creek on Oct. 16. The athletes competed on one of the most challenging courses they had faced this year while at Fall Creek, a course which took them up steep hills on a nearby bluff for about a mile during the race.
Four runners competed for the Greyhound boys at conference, with 71 runners completing the race. Connor Genteman and Avrey Horvath kept each other going through the course of the race, coming through the finish neck-to-neck to take 10th and 11th, respectively, earning all-conference positions. Genteman ran a 18:52.0 and Horvath finished at the 18:52.5 mark. Ashtin Palms took 37th at the race, running a 20:46.5 and Micah Kayhart ran a 22:48.9 to finish in 58th.
Addison Davidson earned an honorable mention during the girls race, taking 18th overall in the 69-runner field by running a 23:45.9. The rest of the Loyal-Greenwood team did not place in the top 21, but still managed to have good races. Leah Scherer took 27th with a time of 25:01.2. Aubre Robida came through next, running a 25:07.1 for 31st. Halle Aumann (25:31.9) and Katlund Etlicher (25:36.5) finished in 33rd and 34th, Maci Bogdonovich earned 43rd with her 26:38.9 time and Lisa Steffens took 58th with a time of 29:00.8.
The Spencer cross country team also competed at Fall Creek for conference, though none of the runners from the team placed in the top 21. Malachai Anderson and Andrew Sieracki were the only runners competing in the boys race for the Rockets. Anderson took 44th overall with a time of 21:24.7 and Sieracki finished in 67th with a time of 24:20.6.
For the girls, four runners participated in the race. Emily Wehrman was the first runner to cross the finish line for Spencer, taking 36th by running a 25:43.0. Theresa Knecht was next, taking 53rd with a time of 28:25.8. Running a 30:51.9 was Aurora Porcu, who placed 64th with her time. Daniela Guzman-Pallares took 69th with a time of 36:04.0.
Neither the Loyal-Greenwood nor the Spencer boys had enough team members at conference competition to place as a team. Other teams competing at Fall Creek were McDonell (55), Bloomer (64), Colby-Abbotsford (72), Stanley-Boyd (78), Fall Creek (122), Cadott (152), Thorp-Gilman (180) and Eau Claire Regis, Neillsville-Granton, Osseo-Fairchild, Marshfield Columbus and Owen-Withee, which all fielded incomplete boys teams.
