Loyal-Greenwood boys and girls take sixth
The Loyal-Greenwood cross country team traveled to Levis Mound on Sept. 14 to compete in an invitational hosted by Neillsville-Granton. Facing some larger teams outside of their normal competition, the Greyhounds managed to place sixth overall.
A total of 77 runners competed in the boys race. Taking 10th place to lead the team was Avrey Horvath, running a 18:32.4 on the course. Coming through the finish after Horvath were Ashtin Palms and Cody Eckes, who finished in 35th and 36th, respectively. Palms completed the race in 21:12.9 and Cody ran a 21:16.3. Micah Kayhart and Dylan Eckes also finished together, with Kayhart coming through at the 24:33.8 mark for 60th and Dylan ran a 24:34.2 that put him in 61st.
In the girls race, the Loyal-Greenwood team ran in a field of 70 runners. Addison Davidson took 16th place with a time of 24:31.7. Aubre Robida and Halle Aumann came next, with Robida finishing in 29th place with a time of 25:57.5 and Aumann taking 30th by running a 26:01.7. Taking 42nd was Katlund Etlicher, who ran a 27:31.6 and coming through ten places later was Lisa Steffens (52nd), who completed the course in 28:56.9. Candela Sota was the last Loyal-Greenwood runner to finish, taking 62nd with a time of 31:28.2.
The Greyhound boys took sixth place at the Neillsville-Granton invite with 141 points. Other teams competing at Levis Mound were Owen-Withee (189), Fall Creek (147), Stanley-Boyd (136), Bangor (94), Tomah (92), Chippewa Valley Lightning Bolts (67) and Auburndale (44). Cadott, Marshfield Columbus, Neillsville-Granton, Osseo-Fairchild, Mondovi and Lincoln all fielded incomplete boys teams.
The Loyal-Greenwood girls team also scored 141 points at the invite to take sixth place. Also scoring as a team were Neillsville-Granton (209), Cadott (192), Lincoln (192), Osseo-Fairchild (160), Chippewa Valley Lightning Bolts (117), Fall Creek (91), Mondovi (90), Bangor (85) and Tomah (67). Marshfield Columbus, Owen-Withee, Auburndale and Stanley-Boyd all fielded incomplete girls teams.
