Hornets see their season come to end at Sectional

Two of the Hornet athletes competed June 9, for the Cadott golf program at the Frederic Sectionals. Senior Cole Sopiarz and sophomore Peter Weir took part in the event, after qualifying from Regionals the week before.

“Cole and Peter got off to a bumpy start yesterday, but finished strong on the back 9,” said coach Scott Christenson.

On the day, Weir scored an 87, while Sopiarz carded a 91. The scores were good, but not enough to advance the athletes on.

“This was Peter’s first year of varsity golf and he performed very well,” said Christenson. “I am looking forward to next year.

For the graduating Sopiarz, it was his last time on the links in his high school career. Christenson says the three-year varsity golfer brought a lot of experience to the Hornets team.

“He will be missed next year.”
