Greyhound girls manage runner-up finish at Pittsville Invitational
Led by individual first-place finishes by the likes of Savannah Schley and Aubre Robida, the Loyal girls track team took second place at Pittsville on May 20. The girls had numerous athletes place within the top eight, giving them plenty of points to put themselves at the top.
Schley and Robida each won at least one individual event at Pittsville. Schley took first in two events, winning both the 200m dash (27.37) and the 400m dash (1:00.54) while also placing second in the 100m dash (13.42). Robida was the top runner in the 100m dash, winning the event with a time of 13.39. She also placed second behind Schley in the 200m dash, finishing in 28.01.
Other individual results for the Loyal girls are as follows: Alyssia Zvolena, 2nd, high jump, 4’6”; Abrial Kubista, 2nd, triple jump, 31’1”, 4th, 300m hurdles, 55.30, 5th, 100m hurdles, 19.37; Margaret Reis, 2nd, pole vault, 8’6”; Sheila Tellock, 2nd, pole vault, 8’6”; Shalisha Buchanan, 3rd, discus, 85’6”; Maci Bogdonovich, 5th, 1600m run, 6:55.11, 6th, 800m run, 3:00.59; Haven Peroshek, 5th, discus, 82’11”, 6th, shot put, 28’3”; Brianna Hederer, 6th, pole vault, 7’6”; Leah Scherer, 7th, long jump, 13’7”, 7th, 100m hurdles, 19.71.
The Greyhound girls also had three relay teams place at Pittsville, with two of those teams taking first place. Abrial Kubista, Sheila Tellock, Alyssia Zvolena and Leah Scherer ran the 4X200m relay, taking the win with their 1:54.26 time. Aubre Robida joined Tellock, Scherer and Zvolena in the 4X100m relay, which they won with a time of 52.70. The 4X400m relay (4:53.06) took third place, being completed by Zvolena, Tellock, Haven Peroshek and Miranda Trade.
The Loyal boys had some mid-pack finishes from its athletes at Pittsville. The Greyhounds sole relay team, the 4X100m (David Nikolai, Kaden Olson, Jaden Ruggles, Sully Hanson), took fourth overall with a time of 49.20.
Individual results for the Loyal boys are as follows: Bo Bogdonovich, 2nd, 400m dash, 1:03.47; Connor Genteman, 3rd, 800m run, 2:10.52, 4th, 1600m run, 4:57.29, 4th, 3200m run, 11:19.30, 8th, long jump, 16’6”; Sully Hanson, 3rd, 200m dash, 25.44, 5th, 100m dash, 11.92; David Nikolai, 4th, discus, 93’8”; Seth Genteman, 4th, 800m run, 2:11.26, 7th, 1600m run, 5:19.04.
The Spencer track and field team also competed at the Pittsville invite, with several individuals who placed within the top eight for the boys and girls teams. Leah Zastrow was the only Rocket runner to take first place in an event, winning both the pole vault (10’) and the 100m hurdles (16.07). She also took third place in the 300m hurdles (52.64).
Other individual results for the Spencer girls and boys are as follows: Emily Wehrman, 2nd, 1600m run, 6:24.76, 3rd, 800m run, 2:48.5; Elisha Blanchard, 4th, discus, 83’8”; Cameron Nieman, 2nd, high jump, 5’8”, 8th, 800m run, 2:20.54; Elliot Bauer, 4th, 100m dash, 11.82; Connor Clark, 5th, pole vault, 9’6”; Kaizer Eickleberry, 5th, 300m hurdles, 49.57; Alexander Baumgarten, 7th, pole vault, 9’.
Three relay teams competed for the Spencer girls at Pittsville. The 4X100m relay, ran by Lydia Nieman, Haylee Hopperdietzel, Faith Miller and Bristol Engevold, was completed in 55.68 to take third place. Finishing fourth was the 4X400m relay (5:06.01) team of Hopperdietzel, Miller, Engevold and Haley Miller. The 4X200m relay team (Martina Miradoli, Alizabelle Carman, Madison Riemer, Bristol Engevold) took sixth place with a time of 2:16.39.
The Spencer boys also had three relay teams compete. The 4X100m relay team of Kaizer Eickleberry, Connor Clark, Elliott Bauer and Dylan Riemer took second place with a time of 48.69. Malachai Anderson, Alexander Baumgarten, Cameron Nieman and Landon Behselich ran the 4X400m relay, taking third place with a time of 4:01.81 and the 4X200m relay team (Anderson, Riemer, Baumgarten, Kyle Nieman) took fourth with a time of 1:49.45.
The Greenwood track team had one individual take first place while competing at Pittsville on May 20. Nathan Revier won two events, running a 55.53 in the 400m dash, and leaping a distance of 39’1.5” in the triple jump to earn the top spots. He also took second place in the 200m dash (24.55) and fifth place in the long jump (18’.5”). Other individual results for the Greenwood boys and girls are as follows: Ashtin Palms, 4th, 300m hurdles, 49.26; Avrey Horvath, 5th, 3200m run, 11:48.7; Christian Thomas, 6th, 300m hurdles, 49.78; Katlund Etlicher, 4th, 3200m run, 15:52.52; Rylan Lindner, 5th, 400m dash, 1:11.93, 5th, 800m run, 2:58.77; Kia Abel, 5th, 300m hurdles, 57.23; Lauren Ingold, 7th, shot put, 28’2.75”.
The Indians had two relay teams compete and place at Pittsville. The boys 4X800m relay team of Cody Eckes, Avrey Horvath, Ashtin Palms and Christian Thomas took fourth place with a time of 9:52.96. The girls 4X100m relay, completed by Sierra Myers, Lauren Ingold, Riley Gardner and Tora Degenhardt, took eighth place with a time of 1:02.38.
The Granton girls track team had several members of their team and one relay team place in the top eight at Pittsville. The 4X800m relay was completed by Dolorosa Thomas, Ashlee Piskow, Faustina Thomas and Olivia Piskow in 12:29.58 to take third place overall.
Individually, Ashlee Piskow took third place in both the 3200m run (14:15.10) and in the 1600m run (6:35.37). Faustina Thomas took fourth place in the 400m dash with a time of 1:11.01 and Dolorosa Thomas placed sixth in the 300m hurdles with a time of 1:00.01. Olivia Piskow took seventh place in the discus, throwing for a distance of 81’9”.
The Loyal girls earned 130 points at the invite to finish in second place. Colby won the invite with 150.5 points. Other teams placing at Pittsville were Auburndale (86), Spencer, which placed fourth with 59 points, Pittsville (58), Neillsville (56), Columbus Catholic (42), Tri-County (36.5), Granton, which took ninth with 28 points, and Greenwood, which earned 20 points to take 10th.
For the boys, the Greenwood track team took fourth place with 46 points, finishing behind Auburndale (102.5), Colby (131), and Neillsville (160). Pittsville was fifth (45.5), Owen-Withee took sixth (43), Spencer placed seventh with 42 points, Loyal took eighth with 40 points, Columbus Catholic was ninth (31) and Tri-County was 10th (28).
