Marathon controls Abby’s track meet

The Marathon boys and girls track and field teams outlasted Colby to win the Abbotsford meet on May 10. The Athens girls finished fourth and the boys were eighth in Abbotsford.

Michael Kindlarski of Marathon won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.77 seconds and his teammate, Griffin Treankler, won the 300-meter hurdles in 45.37. Brett Gertschen won both the shot put with 45 feet, three inches and the discus with 131 feet. Cullen Krasselt won the 800-meter run in two minutes, 13.81 seconds.

Marathon won three out of the four relay races in Abbotsford. The 4x100meter relay team of Jared Sweno, Tanner Hanke, Sam Dick and Matt Vande Boom won in 46.22 seconds. The 4x200meter relay of Jared Sweno, Parker Mathwich, Tanner Hanke and Michael Kindlarski won in one minute, 41.16 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay squad of Matt Annis, Matt Vande Boom, Griffi n Treankler and Jared Sweno won in three minutes, 44.92 seconds.

For the Marathon girls, Laci Hoeksema won the 800-meter run in two minutes, 33.78 seconds. Hope Krautkramer took first place in both the shot put with 34 feet and 1/2 inch and the discus with 106 feet, 10 inches.

The 100-meter relay team of Jenna Aschbrenner, Grace Kahon, Alexandria Kraimer and Lindsey Sparr won the event in 55.48 seconds. The 4x400meter relay of Chloe LaValley, Ava Krueger, Julianna Thurs and Chentaly Phakitthong won in four minutes, 40.20 seconds.

For Athens, Caden Decker won the men’s pole vault with 12 feet, six inches; Montana Albrecht won the 300-meter hurdles in 49.40 seconds and Dana Felzkowski won the women’s pole vault with eight feet.
