“The boys team should be strong in the sprints, relays, hurdles and jumps,” Streit said. “The four guys who are dual sporting are some very fast kids and we also have other guys who have some excellent speed as well. We are probably overall the fastest boys squad I have coached in 15 years. We are all excited to watch our team mold together to form a potential contender. We have a long ways to go, but I am happy with where we are at right now.”

Edgar seniors Kyle Brewster, Austin Dahlke, Drew Guden and Wolf are competing in both baseball and track and field this spring. The four of them were teammates on Edgar’s 4x100-meter relay team on Monday, and they won the event in 44.13 seconds. Brewster also won both the 100-meter dash in 11.56 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 23.96. Dahlke won the long jump with 20 feet, four inches and Brewster took second with 19 feet, 10 inches.

Dahlke and Guden joined Ayden and Kohlbe Weisenberger on Monday to win both the 4x200-meter relay in one minute, 33.58 seconds and the 4x400-meter relay in three minutes, 36.89 seconds.

The Edgar boys and girls dominated the relays at the Dr. H.A. Schulz Invitational. Wildcat boy throwers’ Karter Butt, Carver Higgins, Jace Kohel and Parker Schuette won the 4x100-meter relay in 53.50 seconds. The Wildcat boys 4x800-meter relay team of Teegan Streit, Owen Baumann, Cael Higgins and Avery Normington also won the event in 10 minutes, 42.85 seconds.

Edgar girls Malia Hoesly, Brooke Imhoff, Rachel Schneider and Makenna Guden won the 4x100-meter relay in 55.86 seconds. The 4x200-meter relay team of Malia Hoesly, Amelia Gajewski, Rachel Schneider and Amber Skrzpcak won the event in two minutes, 59 seconds.

The Wildcat girls 4x400-meter relay team of Rachel Brewster, Makenna Guden, Ella Morse and Morgan Schnelle captured the event in four minutes, 19.38 seconds. The 4x800-meter relay squad of Erica Socha, Valerie Czech, Brooklyn Schwoerer and Amelia Gajewski won the event in 13 minutes, 56.90 seconds.

Edgar senior Rachel Brewster won both the 100-meter hurdles in 17.39 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 50.33. Wildcat junior Sophia Larson won the shot put with 32 feet, 7-1/2 feet.

Head coach Streit and his assistants Andrew Lukasko, Dennis Webb, Andi English, Nathan Dahl and Tom Normington will attempt to guide both the Edgar boys and girls to winning state championships this season.

“I think a lot of things always have to go right for you to compete for a state title,” Streit said. “We have had the opportunity in the past to be fortunate enough to compete for a title; not many schools can say that. We are going to take it day by day and see what happens in June, but we are excited to see where the journey takes us this year. I am happy with our kids and we want to make track and field a fun experience for everyone involved.”

Stratford senior Drey Drexler won the shot put at Monday’s track meet in Edgar with a toss of 42 feet, 2-1/2 inches and he placed second in the discus with 124 feet, two inches. Tiger freshman Noah Lucio won the 400-meter run in 54.77 seconds.

For the Stratford girls, freshman Kressa Wenzel won the 1,600-meter run in six minutes, 23.18 seconds. Tiger junior Jaidyn Wright won the triple jump with 33 feet, 2-3/4 inches and she placed second in the long jump with 14 feet, five inches. Junior Alexis Folz took second place in both the discus with 79 feet, four inches and the shot put with 30 feet, 7-1/2 inches.

Stratford Invitational

Athens girls senior Montana Albrecht won both the 100-meter hurdles in 17.34 seconds and the triple jump with 31 feet, 10 inches at the Stratford Invitational on Thursday. Bluejays senior Dana Felzkowski won the pole vault with nine feet, six inches. Junior Elizabeth Van Rixel won the 3,200-meter run in 13 minutes, 48.05 seconds and she placed second in the 1,600-meter run in six minutes, 8.48 seconds.

The Bluejay boys dominated the pole vault with juniors Caden Decker and Aiden Guralski both obtaining 12 feet, but Decker won the tiebreaker to finish in first place.

Edgar junior Waylon Wirkus won the shot put with 39 feet, followed by Athens junior William Hoffman in second place with 38 feet, 11 inches and sophomore Aiden Janke in third with 37 feet, 11-1/2 inches. Wildcats junior Sophia Larson won the shot put with 31 feet, 9-1/4 inches.

Wildcats senior Nathan Drabek won both the 110-meter hurdles in 17.50 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 45.45. Freshman Teegan Streit placed second in both the 110-meter hurdles in 19.24 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 47.59. Edgar freshman boy Cael Higgins took second place in the 200-meter dash in 24.20 seconds.

Morgan Schnelle won both the 100-meter dash in 13.67 seconds and 200-meter dash in 27.44. She also placed second in the long lump with 15 feet, one inch. Rachel Brewster placed second in the 300-meter hurdles in 50.89 seconds.

Edgar junior Mattison Butt won the boys triple jump with 39 feet, seven inches and Stratford sophomore Conner Weigel placed second with 36 feet, 9-1/4 inches. Stratford junior Addison Schafer took second place in the 400-meter run in 59.58 seconds and freshman Noah Lucio placed second in the 800-meter run in two minutes, 10.45 seconds.

Stratford junior Sarah Zuelke placed second in the 400-meter run in one minute, 11.09 seconds and junior Jaidyn Wright was second in the triple jump with 31 feet, three inches.

Marathon in Waupaca

The Marathon boys track and field team won the Waupaca ‘Vic Tree’ Invitational on Thursday, while the Marathon girls were runners-up to Winneconne.

Marathon also won the boys wheelchair division after sophomore Drake Carlson captured the 100-meter wheelchair event in 23.74 seconds, 400-meter wheelchair in one minute, 36.79 seconds and the wheelchair shot put with 17 feet, 4-1/4 inches.

Sophomore Matt Annis won both the 200-meter dash in 23.79 seconds and the 400-meter run in 53.23. Senior Sam Dick won the long jump with 20 feet and he placed second in both the high jump with five feet, six inches and the 100-meter dash in 11.64 seconds. Senior Cullen Krasselt won the 3,200-meter run in 11 minutes, 15.51 seconds.

Red Raiders junior Michael Kindlarski won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.56 seconds and sophomore Griffin Treankler won the 300-meter hurdles in 44.19. The boys 4x100-meter relay team of Jared Sweno, Tanner Hanke, Sam Dick and Matt Vande Boom won the event in 46.50 seconds. The boys 4x400-meter relay team of Annis, Matt Vande Boom, Sweno and Griffin Treankler won the event in three minutes, 40.04 seconds.

For the Marathon girls, junior Jenna Aschbrenner won the pole vault with eight feet and she placed second in the long jump with 16 feet. Junior Alyssa Hall won the shot put with 33 feet, 9-1/2 inches and senior Hope Krautkramer placed second with 33 feet, one inch. Hope Krautkramer won the discus with 107 feet, seven inches and Alyssa Hall placed second with 97 feet, eight inches. Freshman Alisha Blenker took second place in the 100-meter hurdles in 20.89 seconds.

The girls 4x100-meter relay team of Aschbrenner, Grace Kahon, Jersey Lobner and Lindsey Sparr won the event in 54.95 seconds.
