Relay teams strong for Spencer at two recent meets
Relays and field events were the strong points of the Spencer track team as they competed in two invitationals this week. The team first competed in Gilman on May 3 and on their home field on May 6.
At Gilman, the Spencer girls had three relay teams compete and place. The 4X100m relay was completed by Faith Miller, Haylee Hopperdietzel, Emily Wehrman and Bristol Engevold in 57.90 to take third. Also taking third was the 4X400m relay team (4:58.12) which consisted of Emily Wehrman, Leah Zastrow, Faith Miller and Bristol Engevold. The 4X200m relay team (Martina Miradoli, Lydia Nieman, Madison Riemer, Alizabelle Carman) took fourth with a time of 2:14.39.
Individual results for the Spencer girls are as follows: Leah Zastrow, 1st, 100m hurdles, 16.72, 1st, pole vault, 10’, 3rd, 100m dash, 14.02; Emily Wehrman, 2nd, 800m run, 2:45.56, 5th, long jump, 12’3.5”; Lydia Nieman, 4th, long jump, 12’4”; Faith Miller, 6th, 200m dash, 30.75; Haylee Hopperdietzel, 100m dash, 14.94.
The Rocket boys also had three relay teams compete and place at Gilman. The 4X100m relay team of Noah Schultz, Connor Clark, Alexander Baumgarten and Kaizer Eickleberry took second with a time of 51.64. Noah Schultz, Cameron Nieman, Kaizer Eickleberry and Malachai Anderson ran the 4X400m relay, placing third with a time of 4:07.57 and the 4X200m relay team of Landon Behselich, Raphael Gehring, Kyle Nieman and Dylan Riemer took fourth with a time of 1:55.39.
Individual results for the Spencer boys are as follows: Noah Schultz, 1st, 400m dash, 58.01; Kaizer Eickleberry, 2nd, 300m hurdles, 50.86; Cameron Nieman, 4th, 800m run, 2:25.07, 4th, high jump, 5’4”; Connor Clark, 5th, pole vault, 8’6”; Kyle Nieman, 6th, 300m hurdles, 57.84, 6th, pole vault, 8’; Landon Behselich, 6th, 400m dash, 1:02.74; Malachai Anderson, 7th, 200m dash, 26.89; Alexander Baumgarten, 8th, pole vault, 8’.
The Spencer girls team placed fourth with 64 points. Other teams placing at Gilman were Colby (167), Loyal (158.5), Gilman (92), Cadott (46.5), Lake Holcombe (29), Bruce (20) and Owen-Withee (7).
The Spencer boys team earned 62.5 points to take seventh. Also scoring points were Bruce (40), Gilman (63), Lake Holcombe (63), Owen-Withee (65.5), Loyal (84), Cadott (99) and Colby (171).
The Rockets faced some stiff competition at their home invitational on May 6. For the boys team, two relays competed and placed. The 4X100m relay team of Noah Schultz, Connor Clark, Will Gorst and Elliott Bauer took first place, running the course in 47.05. The 4X200m relay team of Landon Behselich, Raphael Gehring, Kyle Nieman and Dylan Riemer took sixth with a time of 1:54.14.

Three relay teams competed for the Rocket girls at Spencer. The 4X100m relay team (57.50) and the 4X400m relay team (5:04.45) both finished third. The 4X100m relay was competed by Faith Miller, Haylee Hopperdietzel, Bristol Engevold and Lydia Nieman while the 4X400m relay was finished by Leah Zastrow, Faith Miller, Haylee Hopperdietzel and Haley Miller. The 4X200m relay team (Martina Miradoli, Lydia Nieman, Alizabelle Carman, Haley Miller) took fourth with a time of 2:16.67.

The Spencer boys earned 42.5 points at home, taking seventh as a team. Also competing at Spencer on May 6 were Chequamegon-Park Falls (140), Medford Area (132.5), Eau Claire Regis (108), Altoona (91), Nekoosa (84.16), Antigo (66.83) and Adams-Friendship (25).
The Spencer girls team took fifth place with 69 points at their home invite. Other teams scoring were Medford Area (174.66), Altoona (128.5), Antigo (125.16), Chequamegon- Park Falls (95), Eau Claire Regis (50), Adams-Friendship (34), Nekoosa (2.66) and Thorp (1)
