Edgar’s softball team blasted both Rib Lake, 17-1, in five innings on the road Thursday and Colby, 15-3, in five innings at home on Friday to begin this season with a 3-0 record.
The Wildcats enjoyed stellar pitching performances from freshman Makayla Wirkus against the Lady Redmen and junior Skylee Manecke against the Hornets. Wirkus struck out 10 batters and Manecke fanned eight.
Wirkus led Edgar’s hitting attack against both Rib Lake and Colby. She batted three for four with three RBIs and three runs scored against the Lady Redmen and she hit a perfect three for three with a walk, three RBIs and two runs scored against the Hornets.

Marathon downed Chequamegon, 12-2, on Thursday. Kyle Hollenbeck was the winning pitcher and Grant Warren led the team with a double and two RBIs. Marathon nipped Athens, 2-1, at home on Friday night. Jaden Koeller struck out nine hitters in five innings to earn the pitching win and Brock Warren relieved him to get the save. Koeller doubled for Marathon.
The Red Raiders also beat the Cadott Hornets, 7-2, on Saturday at home. Grant Warren struck out eight batters to earn the pitching win. Cooper Hoeksema batted two for four in the victory.
Athens edged Wausau Newman, 5-3, on Thursday at home. Junior Cooper Diedrich scored twice for the Bluejays. Seniors Jake Denzine and Dayne Diethelm, and junior Kody Lepak scored one run apiece. Diedrich was the winning pitcher and junior Brooks Kraus earned the save.
Stratford’s baseball team blasted Wisconsin Rapids Assumption, 16-0, on the road Tuesday to remain undefeated this season with a 4-0 record.
Senior Kale Weisenberger only gave up one hit to the Royals while earning the pitching win. Senior Colten Schillinger belted a homer and he collected three RBIs. Senior Riley Bauman batted a perfect four for four with two singles, a double and a triple. He scored three runs. Weisenberger singled three times in the victory.
Bauman pitched a no hitter during Stratford’s 29-0 road win against Prentice on Thursday.
