Hornets takes out Regis in home dual meet action
Liam O’Connell, by a 14-5 major decision, while freshman Axel Tegels (170) earned a victory over Colin Boyarski by fall, in 5:46. The wins garnered best effort from the two Hornets during the meet.
“Cole wrestled very hard for six minutes and earned a major decision for the team,” said Spaeth. “Axel put together a workmanlike performance and earned a pin for the team.”
Also bringing in wins for Cadott, were junior Logan Harel Cadott’s wrestlers were back in action on their home mats Dec. 29, facing off against Regis-Altoona, in the final matchup of 2020.
“Regis-Altoona is a very much improved team,” said coach Josh Spaeth. “Last night’s dual was very exciting and provided fans with some very high quality of wrestling.”
Sophomore Cole Pfeiffer (145 pounds) got the win over (113) over Brandon Myher, by fall in 1:35; sophomore Brayden Sonnentag (126) over Mark Mauer, by fall in 3:00; and junior Kaleb Sonnentag (138) over Tommy Tomesh, by a 16-5 major decision.
Sophomore Dawson Webster (182) also earned the victory, going up against Caden Weber, in a 4-3 decision. Junior Gavin Tegels (220) also took the win, placing over Noah Knobloch, by fall in 1:16.
Securing a forfeit victory, was sophomore Austin Walters (160). The score was enough to see Cadott take the home meet, 41-33.
The win puts the Hornets at 3-1 in dual action this season.
“As always,” said Spaeth, “we will continue to work hard, and get better each and every week.”
